Hotshots shut?

Writing for yourself one assumes?

ah Baerboxer always the gracious one...

Lanna Guy please stop being so predictable. There's no need to mention Thaksin in every thread - after all, he has nothing to do with Hotshots. We all know by now that you dislike the current regime and have a major soft spot for the Shinawatra clan - duly noted by all and sundry, I would imagine.

Dude I was reflecting upon the bars shutting and the fact that most people I meet say things are much, MUCH worse now. IF you follow my posts at all you will see I RARELY ever mention Thaksin BUT what I said is TRUE. Go ask any Thai.

After I saw the controversy and apologized (as it was my thread and my responsibility) your Junta mate was ungracious and rude. Got it?

So now that Hotshot is shuttered is there a new place for the over 40 crowd to meet the old boilers?

Actually Hotshot used to be ok 10 years ago but it's gone and so has Bubbles. Loi Khroh are moaning it's never been so bad and bars are shutting everywhere and those that are open are forced by the Army to shut at 12.

"bringing happiness to the people" I think it's called. Yellow is full of backpackers, Spicy, well we know what that's full of. Be interesting if anyone comes up with an alternative.

Is Yellow still full of backpackers? Before all this nonsense it didn't fill up until after midnight. I haven't been there for a long time, but I assumed the midnight closing had largely emptied the area.

Never went back to hot shot. Three male waiters surrounding you with a menu and flashlight the minute you walk in was just not cool.

Guess they were very desperate for customers. Problem solved.

When I first moved to Cm (6-7 years back) I loved hotshots.

Every Friday night, me and a pal, off to hotshots. Ben More Whiskey set 600bht, girls were welcome to join us but after the first set of mixers were used, they had to buy them (we were happy to drink it neat).

Always ended up with 5 or 6 girls and often one of the male dancers at our table. The bouncers treated us like royalty.

One night we arrived, as usual, big crowd lined up outside, we just walked in, as usual, bouncers escorted us to a table as usual.

It was a Takatan concert, booked up well in advance, we had no tickets ..... didn't matter, they knew us.

You can't get much better than that!

where has the crowd moved onto now then?

Pattaya, Phnom Penh, places like that.

Midnight closings have taken a lot out of Chiang Mai nightlife.

not much changed, just got to get your thing sorted out by one oclock, just a new challange in the pursuit of happiness,

I'm fine with an early start, but it typically means I'm starting in a nearly empty bar. In spite of the early closings, most places still don't get going good until about 10 pm or later, then there is a last call around 11:30. It makes for a short evening.

yellow heaving at 9-30 last night, folks hitting the high spots earlier and earlier, nimman full every were, most bars packed at 8-8-30

I don't know about Yellow, but I think you're exaggerating a bit about Nimmanhamin. Popular bars start filling up around 9 pm on weekends, but, aside from OMG and the tables outside the bottle shop (places to sit, drink, snack, and nothing else) few are full until 9:30 or 10:00. Things are slower the rest of the week, which is when I have time to go out.

Agree.. Me and a few mates tend to meet up around niman, have a few decent quality beers and then head around.. Niman now feels like the shell of itself 4 years ago..

Yes some places do OK.. Beer republic is often packed but plenty of others not seeing the same success..

You're over 70, hotshots and night clubs aren't for you.

Why are you even posting in this thread?

Nonsense, I liked Hotshots.

The brain is not old the body is just a little slower.

I can still swing from chandeliers but no longer can I hold a bull out to piss at the same time.

Last night was the start of a three day weekend for a lot of people. It was busy around Nimmanhamin.
