webfact Posted October 4, 2015 Share Posted October 4, 2015 Police to restore organizational image from bribing accusationsBANGKOK, 5 October 2015 (NNT) – The Royal Thai Police will be revamping its organizational image to clear accusations of bribes and fines, the police chief says.The Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda has revealed that the Royal Thai Police will re-establish its organizational image restoration committee, in the wake of being accused of demanding for bribes and fines. This organizational reform will enhance the surpession operations as well and result in a positive image of the organization.He said that the police have to urgently manage the traffic issue and maintain the safety of the public, while the assistance from the military in suppressing casinos and illegal entertainment venues has been proven to be effective.He has also expressed his confidences that the police commanders nationwide would know the best way to manage the operations, and requested time for the police force to work on these issues.The Commissioner General has said that he will carry on the work of the former Commissioner General Pol Gen Somyot Phumphanmuang, to impose more meticulous immigration screening measures, and added that the rotation of executive policemen is expected to be completed within this month.-- NNT 2015-10-05 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I wasn't present at police HQ, but it went something like ....Why I oughta......What's the big idea here?!.......Oh, a wise guy, eh?......Explain it to 'em. (Before the other Stooge can say something) That's enough!...........................You see that? There's still much work to do on the roads, let's start with fining all drivers who don't carry lights on their vehicles, don't use indicators, no insurance or driverslicense, parking on the road to name a few. Speeding ,tailgaitng, aproaching hazards at full throttle, drunken driving, no helmets enforced, children riding bikes, and unprotected on them, plenty of money opportunity and still same everyday since I have been coming here , year 2000 never mind Bhudda take care and you return as Soi dog. No amount of medals, ribbons or other appurtenances on a uniform, can makeup for the lack of honesty, transparency and impartial application of the law. (Too much work) RTP proud of seeking justice for victims of crime? (What do you think?) The RTP sitting in front of a table full of cash for the Erawan bombing arrests was shameful. Not one word for the people who were killed or their families. Just big smiles and a pile of cash. Shameful. (Two colleagues of my Thai wife were killed leaving their husbands without a wife and children without a mother) I believe these are three things the RTP needs to think about if they want a good image. It seems like every time the RTP goes in front of the international news media they are an embarrassment to the Kingdom of Thailand. A last thought: Restructuring the police to a performance based group, better pay, and real police training from say, Japan, Korea, Taiwan or Singapore would work miracles. Forget the ribbons, the jump/aviator wings and the bells and whistles adorning the uniform.They aren't kids and they are not Army or Navy. Focus on performance. AGREED. But can't a system be started up as in most other countries, where the actual cash is not paid to the police? By all means issue a ticket, but the money has to be paid to State Treasury, not the tea lady. The money raised could be used to construct motor bike parking areas! shock!! horror!!
