Yesterday the ping test result when from about 30 ms to 100 ms, making some functions like online gaming virtually impossible. It's the same today and also happened with 3BB according to a friend of mine.

Anyone know the reason for this?

BTW, I live in Pattaya.

Been trying to figure this out myself. My ToT and TRUE at home both took a dive on the same day. Same happened on the same day at my workplace which also uses TRUE and is about 10km from my home. Things have not returned to normal since that day, approx 2 weeks ago. Speeds within Thailand unsurprisingly are normal. All 3 of the connections I use have still worked fairly well with the exception of ping/latency. Today however internet at my workplace is barely functioning but that could be due to some muppet torrenting on the network. Will have to wait until I get home before I can investigate more.

Can you describe what the "True ping test" is?

What are they testing? To which server?

To Bangkok it is 14 ms for me (ToT fibre from Khon Kaen location).

Singapore about 30 ms.

A ping to the US is usually in the 280 ms range.

A ping to German currently about 240 ms (I have seen worse).

Just found this:

http://speedtest.trueinternet.co.th/

Did the test to "Thailand" from my location (Khon Kaen) with ToT fibre.

Result:

Last Result:
Download Speed: 12256 kbps (1532 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1893 kbps (236.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 13 ms
Jitter: 2 ms
8.10.2015 12:57:17

USA:

Last Result:
Download Speed: 9536 kbps (1192 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1961 kbps (245.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 223 ms
Jitter: 33 ms
8.10.2015 13:01:32

Looks all good.

The down/up rates might be influenced by the fact that I currently have seven devices on my WIFi (from our house and the sister in law's house) tongue.png

Ping time for me is normal...using the same True speedtester as KhunBENQ above I pull a Bangkok to Bangkok ping time of 11ms and Bangkok to USA ping time of 210ms on this Friday morning. All normal ping time wise. I'm on a True DOCSIS/cable 15Mb/1.5Mb plan in Bangkok which includes "download bursting" which lasts longer than the speedtester test interval...that's why my download speed tests higher than the advertised speed of 15Mb/1.5Mb.

Bangkok to Bangkok

Last Result:
Download Speed: 21597 kbps (2699.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1693 kbps (211.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 11 ms
Jitter: 5 ms

Bangkok to USA (Note: since the True speedtester is an OOKLA-based speedtester (easily fooled by local cache servers) I'm not believing I get 18.474Mb download speed to the U.S.)

Last Result:

Download Speed: 18474 kbps (2309.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1678 kbps (209.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 210 ms
Jitter: 6 ms
