Urgent! Really need agent to help with my kid's visa

Featured Replies

I am an Canadian expat working in Bangkok. I came to Thailand a few months ago with my wife and kids and we had a bad experience with the visa application process.

I didn’t have any trouble getting my own visa and work permit because the company that I work for handle everything, but for my wife and kids, I had to find my own agent to get the visas.

At first, I didn’t know where I can find an agent so I used the agent that my company recommended. As any expat would, I relied on the agent to tell me what to do and what to prepare.

Before we went to the immigration, we had problems contacting the agent. He was difficult to reach and his English was not very good but I was optimistic that my wife and kids would get their visas without any problem. It turned out that I was wrong. For some reason, the paperwork for my kids were not complete and the agent couldn’t fix the problem for us so we spent one full day at the immigration and could only get the visa for my wife. After that, I couldn’t contact my agent and the problem became serious because we need to find another agent quickly.

Anyone know any good agent??

Many thanks in advance.

Why do you need an agent? Explain exactly what you and wife have and type of entry your son currently has and am sure posters here can explain exactly what you need. Normally visas are obtained outside Thailand from Consulates. Agents are often not as easy as doing it yourself. Doubly true if anything other than what they normally do. Please advise immigration office along with details.

I agree with lopburi3. You don't need an agent. It can seem baffling and overwhelming at times, but all immigration departments and all countries are! Deep breath, prepare for the worst (a very long day and, as you've already learned, failure), and keep calm. The officials at immigration are professional and speak fairly good English (which is not the case in many other countries where only the local language is used at immigration). The procedures are clearly defined and often printed out (in English). I went in to change my visa type a year or two ago and got a clear list of the required documents, and it worked the first time I submitted the application.
With that said, be sure to look very carefully at any document you submit beforehand, to be sure it's complete and accurate. If there is anything wrong with it (e.g., the bank mis-typed your account number in the balance confirmation letter), it'll be rejected. (Been there, done that.)
Sorry your kids have to go through another round but sure you'll be fine on your own. Let us know back!

You have been given good advice...so all i am going to add is what sort of a kant company does stuff like this ?.....seriously i would have the HR manager hanging from the rafters by his balls

To obtain assistance here members need to know exactly what is in your passport, a visa or an extension of stay?

Your wife did not receive a "visa" from immigration so what , exactly is stamped in the ladies passport ?

How old are the children and what visas/stamps are in their passports?

This issue is easily resolved if you supply the above information.

Using visa "agents" is not necessary and often unwise.

I do not understand why the "company" has refused assistance ...................................

Thank you for all your advice. They are very helpful. I’m not so good with paperwork but I guess I have to learn and do it myself as this won’t be the last time I deal with this.

With respect you cannot "learn" without having good information.

Your company does not appear, from what you have said, to have been very helpful.

If you can provide the few details which members have requested you will receive very good advise here which will enable the resolution of any current problem and provide you with the knowledge necessary to avoid any future difficulty.

We need some more info to help you.

Do your children have 90 day non-o visa entries? If not they will have to leave the country to get a visa at a nearby embassy or consulate in order to apply for their extensions.

If a company has brought, you and the family here they should be doing this, not you, its good to know how to do things and the rules, processes etc but you should have to do anything
