I have a 2009 Yamaha Nouvo Elegance in excellent condition with only 17000 km. The bike looks brand new. This is the TG's bike at this point, we usually use the PCX. I'm frustrated with the hesitation in the acceleration. It's just not right. I've had the bike back to Yamaha a couple of times. They've driven it and say it's okay.

Am I just spoiled by the smooth acceleration of the PCX? Is this just what to expect from a carbureted bike? Or does anyone have any suggestions? Spark plug and fuel filter have been changed.

Thanks

Air filter and oils changed too?

Switch to benzene 95 for a couple of fills

A long Stretch on the express way at wide open throttle sometimes helps too... Blow the cobwebs out of it... That seemed to help mine

Is it ever hard to start the bike?

Pcx will still be smoother no matter what you do, even nuovo sx is not as smooth as original pcx... But yne more fun

YNE's are hard to start if left for a couple of weeks. Starts well with regular use. I'll give the 95 a try.

Air Filter is okay.

You have had the carb properly removed and cleaned, right?

I have five bikes with carburetor.

In the past year I've had four carb cleans done.

Dramatic performance increase each time.

An air cleaner element can be compromised and still look okay.

This would be commonest on a bike used in relatively clean air.

Small invisible particulates in urban environments, the unseen culprit.

Recent new air and fuel filters, and carb clean set me back a whopping 600baht including labor.

<$20. CBR150.

Now runs better than new at 25,000km.

You can also buy some gas additive and run that through.

Spaying cleaner into the carb while bike is running...

papa has had some success with that.

But if you are already at the point of poor performance, total satisfaction is unlikely,

save a proper carb servicing.

If all else fails, get a YNSX.

Air Filter is okay.

Carbureted bikes typically require use of choke for starting after setting a day or two.

YNE lacks a manual choke, hence the well known starting challenge.

I was wondering how I'd get the carb cleaned. I'll have it cleaned next week. Thanks papa thumbsup.gif
