Paragliding temporarily banned in Rawai

PHUKET: Paragliding at Phuket’s iconic Promthep Cape has been temporarily banned, confirmed Rawai Mayor Aroon Solos.

The ban follows earlier complaints of papragliders blocking public land and telling visitors to get out of their way during takeoffs.

“We held a meeting last week about the issue,” Mr Aroon told the Phuket Gazette. “Paragliding is temporarily banned until further notice. The paragliding club members have already been informed.”

Technically that is parasailing. Paragliding is a completely different batch of bananas.

The photo shows a paraglider, though it appears the guys on the ground are holding a rope to it...? Parasailing IS a completely different batch of bananas, and commonplace on the west coat beaches. The article is about paragliding.

Saw them out on Sunday landing at Nai Harn, not a total surprise if this edict is enforced like everything else.

What we really need to put an end to is this nonsense movie museum being staked out which will take out many of the shade trees. Who exactly wanted and pushed for a movie museum to be placed on the beach?

Someone who will make a tidy profit from it would be my guess… One of the dumbest ideas ever. Right up there with the 10% beach rule they are going to try to enforce again for this high season. Just brilliant!
