Getting blood tests at Chiang Mai Ram Hospital

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a bunch of things I would like to get tested, such as:

thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)
total cholesterol
HDL
LDL
serum calcium
serum phosphate
prolactin
parathyroid hormone (PTH)
albumin
carbon dioxide or bicarbonate
vitamin D
ferritin
iron saturation
How easy will it be to do all this at Chiang Mai Ram?
Can I just walk in and ask for blood tests?
And any idea on cost range for the above?
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it :)

Just walk in to any hospital with your passport, register and see a doctor. Ask for the tests and discuss why with the doc if you want to. When you get the results, discuss again. It's that easy in Thailand.

I use Ram for many things, but McCormick is probably cheaper for the same tests.

Most hospitals offer 'health' check up packages that probably cover the tests you mentioned. You can usually add more.

Actually, I don't believe you need to see a doctor to get the tests done. At least I've known people who had been treated at Suan Dok for various problems and needed follow up testing and rather than wait all day at Suan Dok, they just went to CM Ram and had it done. Perhaps they explained how their doc at Suan Dok had told them what values were good and what were a cause for concern. Don't know.

I have had several Blood tests done at Ram in last couple of months.

Say 2 hrs wait between test and results not exspensive.

Actually, most of the tests you are asking for are "routine." I suggest a WebMD approach to health care is not healthy. Find s good internist-GP and go from there. If something specific is not working, then see a specialist.

Otherwise, your approach to this matter suggests that you had better return fast to coverage by your home country national

health care system. It seems you might not be in the right place for your health care needs.

I have received those blood check outlines many times at C.M. Ram Hospital.

The Laboratory ending description consists of 30 outlined body details, it is a good result because it shows the body's existing health procedure.

The waiting time in hospital is about 2 hrs.and the costing is about 3,000 - THB.

For elderly people it should be done once a year, but if they have problems then they shout check twice a year or even more often.

I will recommend Dr. Kriengsak's clinic on Chang Klan Rd. GPS:18°45'47.9"N 99°00'04.3"E

He does blood tests. Go in the morning 8-12 (without having eating or drinking anything) and you will get the results the next day.

He's friendly and speaks perfect English.

We have used him as our "house doctor" for 12 years and also get all of our vaccinations there.

I've used Ram for fifteen years or so without dissatisfaction. I enjoy the quick return of results. My US physician recommends the usual labs annually and I have them from Ram at a fraction. Reports appear thorough and haven't been questioned. This is not to say other capable facilities aren't available for less.

Every three months I walk into the lab at Ram, ask for a A1c, bun, creatinine. She tells me to wait one hour. But I just give my email address and the next day it arrives in my in box. Of course I know how to read the results of the tests. Less than 600 baht, for three years already.
