BANGKOK: -- The Pheu Thai party has demanded the Office of the Auditor-General to investigate the extension of funding to the Isra Institute’s Media Development Foundation’s training programme for media executives by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation.

Mr Ruangkrai Leekitwattana, a legal advisor of Pheu Thai party, said he doubted the training programme and another similar programme for junior media representatives were in line with ThaiHealth’s objective. He also claimed that ThaiHealth had provided more than 100 million baht to Isra Institute for the past seven years since 2008.

Auditor-General Phisit Leelavachiropas promised to look into the case with the National Anti-Corruption Centre.

Mr Ruangkrai also demanded Isra Institute to declare all the projects which were funded by financial support from ThaiHealth.

Isra Institute director Prasong Lertrattanavisut defended that all the expenses of of the projects of the institute or the Media Development Foundation were audited by authorized auditors.

He said that health conditions are not confined to just physical health conditions but also mental and psychological health conditions. He clarified that the development of media personnel would result to better and more constructive media content which would, in the long run, benefit members of the public and their mental health when they are exposed to positive media content instead of lousy content.

Perhaps the new Ombudsman should "demand" Yingluck and her cousin Surapong finally answer the outstanding questions from his predecessor regarding their illegal issuing of a new passport to their criminal fugitive brother / cousin?

Nearly as much chance of that as Yingluck revealing the real accounts connected with the rice scam.

You are still living in the past. Start living in the present man. Yingluck this,Thaksin that. Your same old responses are getting really boring.

Must admit I am failing to understand what this budget was being spent on or the excuse used to justify it, is he saying they spent money on positive media to improve peoples mental health ? is that really what is being said, some sort of new therapy from the anals of the Thai health system - the mind boggles (but ok now after reading that lol)

20 killed and over 100 horrifically injured in Bangkok bombing but they were all smiling and happy

He should be asking the OAG to investigate all the wrongdoing and corruption by the PTP and Taksin

Wow! 100 million baht in seven years--that's some expensive training, boys!

Obviously from the side that opposes the PTP, and, therefore; untouchable.

You may have noticed it was the current government that started looking at Thaihealth's spending. You might also wonder why PTP didn't actually do something about this apparent scam during their term in office - too busy setting up their own scams perhaps?

No one forces you to read them sport.

The point is PTP are still living in the past. Demanding everyone else does what they say whilst they only do as they please.

If the Ombudsman has balls he should tell them to piss off until they answer 4 year old questions.

Yingluck is very much in the present - she has court cases pending. And Thaksin had yet another arrest warrant issued recently.

Oh, and btw, Thaksin and his clan own PTP, just in case you'd forgotten. PTP minions do as instructed. Remember Thaksin thinks PTP acts.

Good response to an absolutely clueless reply.

Surely if the OAG has "balls" he would do exactly the opposite?

Wouldn't he stand up straight and tall and pass down a stern but fair judgement based on the evidence placed before him?

Assessing that evidence by careful critical analysis and ignoring the affiliation of whoever presented it?

Paying no attention to the threats, blandishments or bribes presented to him by interested parties, seeking to obtain political advantage from his decision?

Certainly not conforming to a pre-determined course of action set for him by individuals, external to his office, who sought a rubber stamp for their own agenda?

Surely that's what we would all like to see in Thailand, it would point the way to bright new future wouldn't it?

you are exactly right, everybody talks on here about Thainess (which quite frankly is bullst) the problem in this country is that they have no clue how to be lawful and have no clue how to write laws to be lawful, I have said time and time again that so called politcians should have no say and no place in the developement of this country simply because they have no interest in anything but themselves, many may be critical of colonism but it is one single thing that has steered nations on the correct path, Thailand never had that and it is obvious,t Thailand is completely lost and enshrined in greed and power - a lot of it imagined, they are children needing a strong teacher to break the mould or a bad lot being sent to the headmaster over and over, eventually they must emerge from kindergarden and it will need a strong hand to do it

Voting and elections are all well and good but it is no good when the kids vote the teacher out of the classroom and all the votes go for the biggest bully, the headmaster has to step in with an iron fist

It is all about power and money
