Phuket Marine Office to play hard ball with foreign yachts

PHUKET: -- The Phuket Marine Office has vowed to toughen its stance on foreign yachts needing to install Automatic Identification System (AIS) devices and report to the Phuket Yacht Control Center when arriving and departing the region.

Dolphins not connected to Taiji, says Phuket GM

PHUKET: -- The Nemo Dolphinarium dolphins, which recently arrived at the controversial facility on Phuket, were not poached from the wild and have no connection to the annual dolphin slaughter at Japan’s Taiji Cove, Dolphins Bay Phuket General Manager Supreecha Suthamanondh told the Phuket Gazette yesterday.

First Chapter of ‘Cyber War’ to Begin Thursday

Speaking at Government House yesterday, junta chairman Prayuth Chan-ocha said taking control of the internet by implementing a single gateway system was necessary to end defamation of his government online.

BANGKOK — Online activists have announced they will launch attacks against the government beginning Thursday after the prime minister said the project to route all internet traffic through a single point of control is still alive.

French travellers cut road and rail links near Grenoble to demand prison release for funeral

MOIRAN: -- A group of around 30 travellers raided a scrapyard and blocked a road in the French alps in Moirans near Grenoble on Tuesday, setting the wrecks alight, to demand the authorities release a 17-year-old and his cousin from a nearby prison to attend the funeral of his brother.

Well-known fortune teller, two others brought to military court

BANGKOK: -- Police Wednesday afternoon led a well-known fortune teller and two other suspects to the military court to seek an approval for the detention pending prosecution.

One of the three suspects in the lese majeste charges is Suriyan Sujaritpolwong, better known as Mor Yong.

The two other suspects are Pol Maj Prakrom Warunprapha and Jirawong Watanathewasilp.

They were brought to the court where an army of reporters were waiting.

The court approved the first detention period of 12 days during an investigation before they will be formally charged in court.
