Three Chinese air passengers were thrown off a flight in Cambodia after a scuffle broke out on board before the plane took off, according to a newspaper report.

The argument started after a man told a woman in front of him that her seat was tipped back too far and he inadvertently touched her hair, the Chengdu Commercial Daily reported.

The pair began to quarrel and their friends and relatives joined in, the report said.

The two sides began to scold and jostle each other and efforts to calm them by flight attendants, their tourist guide and other passengers failed.

The captain asked immigration officers to escort the pair and the man’s wife off the plane, which was due to fly from Siem Reap to Chengdu in Sichuan province on Monday night.

The captain said the trio, whose full names were not given in the report, were jeopardising the safety of the flight and had to leave before take-off, despite pleas from other passengers and the tourist guide.

One passenger was quoted as saying that the man and wife involved in the dispute were in their 60s and it was surprising they had got so angry.

The flight took off more than an hour behind schedule.

The trio were due to return home on two later, separate flights.

The media in China regularly reports on the bad behaviour of some Chinese tourists overseas and the country’s tourism authorities compile a blacklist of travellers deemed to have acted particularly badly.

it happened to me on American Airlines. I put my seat gently back so I can sleep and the passenger behind me pushed it forward again. It happens everywhere is not just the Chinese

Yeah, I have been in an argument with the guy in-front, it happens. (although he did not put his seat gently back, more kept bouncing it back and forth)......he spilt my beer all over me! And that too was part of the problem!

Glad to see a pilot punished bad behaviour, too often it is tolerated.

Didn't they sell braces in the USA you could use to prevent the seat in front being reclined?

Whenever I am on a plane (never in business class) or a bus, I always turn round and warn the person behind me that I am going to recline. It's just good manners. And I have had the idiots in front of me who just drop the seat back with no warning.

I was on a TG flight where an argument started on boarding. Most Chinese will line up with their nose pressed against the boarding gate door 20 minutes before any boarding announcement is made, not sure why, maybe it's a mental issue. One guy was pressed up against the Business class boarding door and when boarding started he was direct to the Economy door for boarding. Well he just walked straight to the Economy door and boarded in front of another guy, with his nose equally pressed against the door< same mental issue, so an argument occurred once they were on the plan. TG attendants did nothing, just let the yelling go on. Good that these idiots were thrown off the flight in Cambodia, TG...take note please.

Seats are not supposed to be reclined until the plane is in the air anyway so this should not have happened on the ground

Good point. They are normally focussed on opening emergency exits and packing the overheads, sitting down and being quiet is far removed at that time.

I do around 200,000 miles a year in Economy, you would be a very rare exception in warning the person behind you, it never happens to me. I am one of those travellers who never need to recline my seat so the person behind me has a nice ride.

.

If you recline your seat slowly it's usually not so much a problem. Those with long legs should politely ask those in front of them for some "understanding" but on overnight flights this could be a problem.

Knee defenders, which can present its own set of problems. smile.png

The fight started when the male passenger, seated in a middle seat of row 12, used the Knee Defender to stop the woman in front of him from reclining while he was on his laptop, according to a law enforcement official with knowledge of the situation who spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak.

A flight attendant asked him to remove the device and he refused. The woman then stood up, turned around and threw a cup of water at him, the official says. That's when United decided to land in Chicago. The two passengers were not allowed to continue to Denver.

Seats recline for a reason; a small yet much needed increase in comfort.

I don't cry if the person infront reclines, in fact I fully expect it.

I always put it back during meal times, but once the trays are gone, the seat is coming back again.

People that bitch about it should pay for bulkhead seats or business class

you didn't think to turn round and ask him if it was OK first, nothing like getting ones knees crushed because some unthinking passenger decides to suddenly recline his seat to max.

i had a big fat creep kicking me in the back, the seat was not reclined, I called the chief steward who talked to him but no difference and to late to throw him off the plane, plane was full so nowhere to shift him or me.

All he did was threaten me after I called the steward, steward told the man if he did not stop the police would arrest him at Auckland, he still did not stop, he got spoken to upon arrival.

And they still want to push seating closer together!

When we came back from a passport run to BKK there were a lot of Chinese on the plane , something to do with a flower show in C/Rai. Before the plane came to a stop they were out their seats scrabbling to get to their overhead lockers ,bags were being past down . Me and 'er indoors , or on the plane anyway sat where we were 'till every one else had passed by. The relay bus was going nowhere and as we were the last on we were the first off at the terminal. Why all that panic rushing ?

Thats kind of sad that people don't think to do it, and yes, I don't ever remember anyone having the courtesy to do the same. I am also a conservative recliner - If I do recline, its not too far back.

Yes they recline for a reason, but common sense and good manners would suggest that warning the person behind you would be a good idea so that you don't spill their drinks or crush their knees or whatever else.

Like I said, recline all you want, but a little courtesy before the seat comes hammering back at a rate of knots would be appreciated.

I fly about 150 Flights a year. The seat have gotten to the point were my knee's touch the seat in front of me, and I'm not that tall (more horizontal height than vertical ...now). I do not blame the passengers for the escalation of issues concerning the seats. It is the airlines. When are they going to stop reducing the leg room. Next we will be standing cheek-to-cheek. I think there is going to be more incidences as the spaces get tighter.

We as consumers need to point the finger in the right direction ... at the airlines, and not at the individuals that over react. I'm not saying I condone there actions, but there is a point that it just not enough room (not everyone can afford business or first class) and something is going to break!!!

And yes I get upgraded quite often, because of all my flying. But I still have a lot of economy flights and I regret every one of them.

I must have been lucky over the years, as Ive never seen any kind of problems caused by any passenger on any flight. Oh no, why did I write this, as I'm off to Siem Reap in December and I bet that someone kicks off !!

The seats should not be reclined on take off and during the meal service . After the meal service and the cabin lights are dimmed then by all means so people can relax. You pay for the seat so if the person behind you complains advise them its your seat that is why the tray table is adjustable .

Whenever I have to fly Coach, I am 6'4", the seat in front of me can't move because my knees are pushing up against the seat! I normally tell the person, sorry,

but my knees are against the seat. They stop and then later in the flight try again, but nothing has changed. I blame the airlines for running cattle cars. In return, I seldom recline my seat for the comfort of the person behind me!

on buses and planes seats should not be able to be reclined.

the passenger has paid for that space so why should the seat in front be allowed to steal a part of that space?

The passenger who reclines paid for the seat that reclines and if the passenger reclines, you get that space back when you recline. If the airlines didn't want the seats to recline, then they wouldn't still manufacture them that way.

Nowadays most Chinese behave but some, especially people in the 50s and 60s, educated by Mao to be proletarians do their best to act like they have been educated. I saw one spitting on the floor in a German airport. In order not to spoil the reputation of China internationally the Chinese government should withdraw the passports of such rude people.
