My first 90 report was a bust. Please list my options.

Hi guys,

Been renting a condo in Nonthaburi for 2 months. Made sure the owner knew the requirement of reporting my residence at time of rental. I am on a Non Imm-O-A visa, entered country on July 27th from US.

Ok. Today I went to immigration to make my first 90 day report. The officer wasn't really friendly, but managed to explain to my wife what we lacked.

1. We had no TM-30 copy to verify that the landlord ever reported us. I didn't know I was supposed to get a copy of this.

2. No copy of the landlord's ID card.

3. No copy of the house book pages.

Great, Left with this knowledge and had the wife call the landlord. There wound up being a very heated conversation, the details of which really don't matter. Suffice to say that she is currently out of the country and even if she agreed to do the paperwork, she has no access to the ta bien baan (sp?). The result was the the landlord is not to be bothered with the paperwork we need.

I am not here to cry about this, as it is my fault for not following up with the landlord earlier to see if they did the required paperwork. I am just looking for solutions.

Great, great. So, long term, obviously we need to secure another place to live. But the short term is the real issue here. My report is due on the 25th (this coming Sunday) which means my window extends 7 days after that. So looks like I have about 10 days to overcome this problem.

I see my short term options are twofold:

A. Do a border run. Would a simple van run, in and out, suffice, or do I need to fly out and return? And what address information do I give when I reenter? (Expensive option)

or

B.Hurriedly try to find a new place to live that has a landlord that will quickly file the required papers and hope I can get it all done in 10 days. (expensive, too)

If there are other options, I am eager to hear them.

A non O visa only allows a 90 day stay so no 90 day report would be required. Are you actually on a one year extension of stay from immigration?

If you have a multiple entry visa it only allows 90 day entries. You have to leave the country every 90 days to get a new entry.

The reports of staying over 90 days in the country are only for those on extensions of stay or a OA visa that allow them to stay longer than that.

You can get the new entry at a border crossing without a problem.

You can get a one year extension of stay. If your wife is Thai you apply for one based upon marriage. You will need 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months or proof of 40k baht income.

Do you have any idea why online works for some and not others. It didn't work for me.
 

You using Internet wxplorer?

Yes I used I.E. Filled all the info correctly from passport and arrival card. And did it two weeks before report date as advised by immigration.

Why not go back to immigration? Your landlord is breaking the law and can be fined.

At immigration this morning, before we were hurried along, my wife asked what we could do if the landlord refused and she was told, there were no options. He said he needed the TM-30 and the house book pages,. Period.

None of those should be needed to do a 90 day report but at the end of they if they want documents you can't produce your only choices are those you suggest. Border run or move.

You're too late to report online or by post.

If I do a border run,

a. Is there a Best Place To Go From Bangkok?

b. Just a simple walk over, walk back kind of deal?

c. What address info do I give on my reentry?

d. The 90 report has a 14 day prior and 7 day after window. Can I wait until I am into the 7 day after window to do the run?

Could try the 1111 complaint line.

You need to exit before you exceed 90 days (or it may be picked up when you make report and fine imposed). No such paperwork has been required in Bangkok if a move is possiable.

You could walk across at Savannakhet or Nong Khai (easy bus/train to there). Or you could fly anywhere and return. Maybe a short vacation. Longer trip would be Penang/Georgetown but a nice change (old city).

Not doing the 90 day report will cost you 2.000 baht fine.

You need to exit before you exceed 90 days (or it may be picked up when you make report and fine imposed). No such paperwork has been required in Bangkok if a move is possiable.

You could walk across at Savannakhet or Nong Khai (easy bus/train to there). Or you could fly anywhere and return. Maybe a short vacation. Longer trip would be Penang/Georgetown but a nice change (old city).

And than make it in future per internet.....I made it on the webpage....still pending but hassle free after I knew the bugs

  3. The address your renting. You'll have another 90 days to sort out your paperwork.
  4. No. You need to leave on or before the 90th day.

I suppose one other option would be to check in to a hotel and use that address when reporting. Hotels have to submit a TM30.

200 Baht per day can add up if there is no upper limit.....

Never said I wasn't going to report. Wanted to know if the 7 day past window applied to leaving the country. But I get what you are saying.

I think the issue is that the local office don't know you because you have an 'O-A' visa so this will be you're first visit contact with them. Those of us on extensions of stay are known from when we do our extension applications. That's probably why they are insisting on the TM30 and landlords ID which should have been done when you moved in.

So you have an admitted to stay stamp until 26 July 2016?

Missing the 90 day report is a minor affair.

It will cost you 2000 to 5000 Baht. Thats it.

You won't be blacklisted, arrested or whatever.

Except immigration office no-one bothers about this 90 day slip.

(assuming that your permission to stay is valid from the Non O-A)

OK, if you prefer you can do a border run before the 25th and get a new 1 year stamp for admission to stay.

You would have to do that every 90 days as long as the affair can not be sorted out.

Kind of ridicolous with a Non O-A, but so what...

So you take your time to find a new place to live or sort the problem out when your landlord comes back (hopefully).

If he is not cooperative and after you found a new place to live: file a report at the police about him missing to report foreigners biggrin.png

Though I never heard or read in this forum that someone is arrested for missing the report:

for the peace of mind he can do a border run (out/in) and have another 90 days to sort out (and win 90 more days of permission to stay).

He is obviously in a limbo.

i am confused,

i was told and always believed that the report ( or the certificate of residency ) is required IF you stay in Thailand more than 90- days at a time and is required to obtain a 1 year extension for whatever reason'

or buying a car/motobike

or getting a drivers license

Never had to show it for 90 day reports or getting a new visa outside Thailand.

If ur landlord wont give u the id card, copy of taam bien time to move

PS ; they never ask for the 90 day report when u fly out

but next year u will have trouble .

the farang immigration volunteer in Phuket wont even let u continue to apply for an extensions without the report
