Late model Toyota pickup with no rear leaf springs.

Featured Replies

Coming home yesterday, I followed a Toyota pickup truck with some sort of linkage rear suspension. (painted bright red) I would have liked to get a closer look but that wasn't possible. It had a massive link from the axle to the rear frame on each side. I couldn't see any type of coil spring. It appeared to be using air bags.

Has anyone seen a pickup without leaf springs? I doubt the motor vehicle department would like a setup like that. At the least it would likely be a big difference for taxes and at worst they may not pass it for the safety check.

Prolly had an EXO 4x4 coil conversion under it. they fit them with bags (instead of coils) as well.

Safety check ?

You must be joking.

Check brakes, try horn, try the lights and indicators.

Check the chassis number.

That's your safety check in Thailand.

I'm not sure about that safety check. Maybe it depends where you go. The last time I took my old truck through, they were quite thorough. Exhaust system, emissions test, brakes on front and back from the roller system, tire tread as well as what you mentioned.
