Try AA insurance brokers (are /were, forum sponsors)

We got 3 months UK travel insurance for my wife for about 120 GBP, if I remember correctly, 3 years ago.

Edit: We did have a claim which they paid promptly

You can get insurance from several Thai companies but the benefit amounts are low compared to western travel insurance.

I find this UK company very well priced and easy to deal with, although I have never had to make a claim: Columbus Direct.

They will insure expats and their girlfriends/wives.

As this isn't really visa related I'll move it to the insurance forum where you should get better advice.

My partner has a Columbus Direct annual policy, purchased online, also have a look at World Nomads.

Some Thai company's require you to settle the bills yourself and claim on your return.

I agree that AA Insurance brokers are well worth contacting.

Just a point to consider.

Several years back a friend was killed in an air accident.

When the policy was taken the next policy holder found difficulty to register a next of kin, but eventually the insurance company did record a next of kin, the person nominated was the adult son.

After accident insurance company refused to accept the nominated next of kin because he was an adopted son.

Went to court, Ins. company ordered to pay, case took 2 years.
