Cabinet nods to new tax incentives for donations to cultural, learning programs

BANGKOK, 27 October 2015 (NNT) - The Cabinet has approved a new set of tax breaks for those who make contributions to programs supervised by the Education Ministry.


According to Deputy Government Spokesperson Major General Weerachon Sukhontapatipak, the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday gave a green light to new tax incentives in a bid to encourage donations for cultural and learning projects.

With the new directive, he said individuals or corporations who make contributions to these projects will be entitled to tax deduction.
The Cabinet also approved the promotion of employment opportunities for people with disabilities, which is in accordance with the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act.

The promotion effort mandates that all government agencies with more than 100 employees increase the number of people with disabilities in their offices.

Dutch state to sell off ABN Amro in initial public offering

ICT to launch G-Channel to improve access to public services

BANGKOK, 27 October 2015 (NNT) - The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has introduced a new platform to improve access to public information and services.


ICT Minister Uttom Saonayon said the Electronic Government Agency (Public Organization) is currently developing a database, G-Channel, for better access to public services via www.egov.go.th.

All information on public services will be included on the website. It will also contain over 2,500 government sites and a list of 108 associated mobile applications.

An interactive booth, piloted in three locations, will be expanded to additional areas for passersby wanting to look up information on the public services. The database will be fully functional by mid-November.

Thai trawlers may lose licences in IUU crackdown


BANGKOK:-- The owners of more than 8,000 trawlers in 22 coastal provinces may lose their commercial fishing licenses as the authorities consider cracking down on those whose licences don't correspond to the vessel size or fishing activity, and those who have failed to renew their licences for several years.
