Understand that it is not required anymore to show a medical certificate anymore ,

but what about the "certification of having no criminal record".

The British Embassy does not issue this anymore so have to get from U.K.

Thanks for help and clarification.

Police report has never been required in Thailand.

But who can say for sure that they won't change their minds on this - suddenly and without warning? :o

Police report has never been required in Thailand.

I got this off of the Los Angeles Thai Consulate website as a requirement for a retirement Visa.

Are they ignoring their own requirements or is the webpage information obsolete?

*6. 4 copies of police verification

stating the applicant has no criminal record issued by the authority concerned

of his/her nationality or residence.(the verification must be valid not more than 3 months)

*7. 4 copies of a medical certificate |Download|

issued from the country where the application is submitted,

showing no prohibitive diseases as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 (B.E. 2535)

with the name and address of the doctor. (the certificate must be valid no more than 3 months)

Not everything that you read on the Thai website is accurate. Worse, other websites, including that of the US Customs and Immigration, refers to the faulty Thai website. For example, there is a mention of what items can be brought into Thailand without duty, including "used" property. According to the Thai website, "used" property is under six months old. Conversely, that would mean "new" property is anything more than 6 months old. Obviously, the definition of "used" is incorrect, ready to trip up the uninitiated.

This applies if you are applying for visa overseas in your home country.I had to supply all this for my retirement visa in Australia.

Well, this is another retirement Visa issue. Not sure if I should start a different thread.

Anyway, the new regualtions, as indicated on this board, require 800,000 bhat in bank (as opposed to 400,000 previously) and also state that the Embassy, US in my case, most certify your retirement income.

When I initially received a retirement Visa in the US, my US bank provided certification of an amount exceeding 400,000 baht. No other requirement existed - meaning, no certification of retirement income. And, I was anxious not to mention my retirement income for fear of some type of double taxation (I am less fearful of this now).

So, my first question is: must an applicant show 800,000 and retirement income?

Can the 800,000 be in the US? I still use the same bank, which is in Colorado but, havent' been their in 3 years. Still, I think I could get a letter of certification from them.

My 2nd question is are both now required - bank balance and retirement income?

And, my third, if one does show retirement income is their a potential for double taxation (US had agreement with Thailand). So, I don't think this would be the case. But, I am not 100% certain.

Hope someone has more knowledge on this subject than I do.
