scorecard
In other words, the police (too busy with other tasks!!!) have allowed the mafia etc., to gain control. Well done RTP.
NongKhaiKid
Never a shortage of excuses for not doing their job. " In no rush to arrest suspects ", what a disgraceful statement.

Always18
A very public admission that the RTP are unfit for purpose on any level.................
zaphod reborn
“At this stage, we are in no rush to arrest the suspects,” Col Teeraphol said. “We need to think carefully about each arrest and the possible consequences. We do not want to see any more violence.” In other words, we already got our reward money. We'd like to squeeze these "protesters" so that we can buy gifts for our mia nois, but there may be more riots, so we'll hold off for now. We'll bide our time and pick them off one-by-one, increasing the tea money demands with each arrest.

steelepulse
Lax law enforcement and punishments that don't deter anyone ( unless a 500 baht fine is considered a deterrent), no wonder why the cops fear. Enforce the laws and lock up the lawbreakers for a good bit of time and if their families break the law, lock them up too. If there was proper enforcement and harsh punishments, this scenario wouldn't be playing out.
Lampang2
Unclear how pukhet police think that nobody sees them. As if they are invisible. PM sees them. And the war is on. Bring in out of town law enforcement, repeat until finished. Universal scheme.

DrDave
So then, what was the point in issuing the arrest warrants?
diehard60
The main question here is Why would they want to arrest anyone anyway? That takes time and paperwork and Oh My God I have to do this too????
BestBitterPhuket
Looks like law enforcement and police work is a bit different in Thailand then anywhere else. The go public and state that they are scared to arrest the suspects and they HOPE they will turn themselves in. Hehehe!

We do not want to see any more violence.” "At this stage, we are too afraid to arrest the suspects, at the other stage, we are not really used to working for a living, and at yet another stage, we are not really skilled, or motivated to protect and serve the public. Life is just full of stages and I see some more coming my way right now, I am really overwhelmed here!", sob, sob, moan, moan, cry, cry
tuanku
Phuket Provincial Police Commander Teeraphol Thipjaroen urges suspects to surrender. In an ideal world all criminals would surrender to the police without even waiting to be named a suspect. Maybe Commander TT does live in such a world. He doesn't seem to inhabit the real one. FangFerang
The news deflects everyone away from what caused the riots, and it was heinous. Enjoy your deflection today. You earned it.
NamKangMan
If the police are so scared to make arrests in this case, why don't they take the Thai military along with them, just like they do when they approach the beach encroachment businesses. What a disgrace.

The big stick is only wielded against political rivals in the north, Phuket is firmly yellow- belly land.
