How much does a new battery cost ?

The car has a beautiful interior better than any Toyotas (except Lexus) in the market.

The main worry is battery. How many kilometers can the battery last ?

The 2013 model is going for more than 500k. How did the price drop so fast ?

500K does sound overly cheap... you might want to consider getting it fully checked out at that price.

Toyota warranty the battery for 10 years, so presumably still 8 years cover left on the car you're talking about. No idea on replacement battery costs, because Toyota don't yet sell them (ref: warranty period).

Note that the Prius has been discontinued in Thailand, so parts availability may become a problem in the years to come.

As stated, Toyota guarantee the battery for 10 years providing service records kept up to date. 2nd hand values have dropped considerably in Thailand the past 3 years but I wouldn't say its cheap. Most cars in Western countries after 3 years are 50% less than new so Thailand has just caught up with the rest of the world due to purchasing power and rebate incentives that were on offer.

One wonders the resale value if the battery is near the expiry of its warranty.

What is Toyota going to do ? To replace the battery ? Or replace the car ?

I was curious about the price of battery change. From the article below showing USD prices. So around 122,000 Baht if same prices in Thailand and current exchange rates.

All batteries wear out over time, but several factors influence when that happens battery chemistry, the number of charge and discharge cycles, temperature extremes, even humidity. Your Prius carries a 10-year, 150,000-mile warranty on the hybrid battery. You'll notice two things when it's time for a new power pack: The engine will run almost constantly, even under light acceleration, and your fuel economy will drop off significantly. The good news is the car will still run with a bum battery, but a new one should keep your car running like new for years. Retail price for a new hybrid battery is $2589; with labor, it should be less than $3500 total. You may have to pay to dispose of the old battery too. It's a big hit to the wallet for a single repair, but still cheaper than a new car.
