Paris: what is the story behind the Syrian passport?

606x341_317161.jpg

PARIS: -- The reported discovery of a Syrian passport near the body of a suicide bomber outside the Stade de France on Friday seems to have raised more questions than it has answered.

Athens and Belgrade have confirmed that the document belonged to a migrant who arrived in Greece on the 3rd of October and who then travelled on to Serbia.

It is not known if the document is genuine, however, or if it belonged to the dead attacker.

EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has warned against linking the Paris attacks with Europe’s migrant crisis.

“We should not mix the different categories of people coming to Europe. The person responsible for the attacks in Paris cannot be put on equal footing with real refugees, with asylum seekers and with displaced people. He is a criminal and not a refugee and not an asylum seeker.”

Nonetheless, the attacks are fuelling discord in the EU on how to handle the flood of asylum seekers from Syria and other countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Some say the atrocities in Paris underline the need for tougher measures to control the flow of migrants.

Listening to the news it was said that the terrorists did not cover their faces, and it was correctly explained that they did not. because they did not expect to survive.

I find it strange that they expected to die yet they took their passports with them?

This is not an argument why he had a passport with him. Everyone knows ISIS said they would send 50000 operatives into Europe with the migrants. What happens Merkel opens the doors and said welcome we will give you houses welfare and give you EU citizenship. Now how do you track all the so called undocumented migrants that have flooded in.

I do feel sorry for genuine refugees.

As with the owner of the passport in the OP, if they have passports, and go through immigration, they are not undocumented.

I have heard somewhere that Syrian passports can be purchases in Turkey for between $600 and $1000 , I am afraid if the west wants to go after Isis, Isis will go after the west, and if the refugee situation is to continue as it has, so will the infiltration of Europe by Isis

Blank Syrian passports and specialised passport security printers have being stolen in Syria, so I would guess it's difficult to identify false ID passport holders.. This issue has been acknowledged, at least by Oz security officials for delaying vetting for Syrian asylum seeker applications.

In Oz some politicians have acknowledged agreeing with the article "Want ISIS Wants" which talks to Daesh encouragement, by their actions, for Western ground forces to engage in Syria for the commencement of the Sunni version of the Apocalypse. It's been forecast it will take around 2/3 years to defeat Daesh. One has to assume some other Islamist group will arise to replace them and the so called 'War on Terror' will continue for decades to come.

All Syrian passport should be made null and void and new one should be issued, until than all Syrian

passports should be deemed as forgery and a fakes, better to inconvenience the holder of genuine passports

than to run the risk of another massacre....

Good Idea, but new ones offered by whom? Assad does not control the whole country, and people a fleeing Isis,or Assad or, loosing track of the players.

who will give refugees new passports?

Would people fleeing Isis ask assis for a new passport to flee or should they ask Assad for a new passport?

I think that if we continue to fight Isis as it looks like we will, we need to stop refugees from entering western countries

perhaps they can be redirected to a neutral country where they can stay until this crisis is over and then return to Syria

if we continue fighting isis, and continue accepting refugees, Isis will retaliate

That's correct, he was not an asylum seeker. However, it appears that he arrived with asylum seekers, so how do you de-link that, Mr. Juncker?

Of course Juncker wants to stop anyone thinking that. They might also link it to his patron Mutti Merkels promise all should come and be welcomed.

What's worse it the arrogant <deleted> thinks people will all simply follow what he says.

For once Cameron was right when he opposed this moron becoming President of the non democratic EU commission.

All Syrian citizens public records have been systematically destroyed by the opposition.

Only the Syrian government has ownership of the passports. Not the passport holders.

If you void the Syrian passports, you will have a lot of returning Jihadi's with perfect European accents who will apply for the new passports.

It's not shure if the Syrian terrorists at Stade de France are matching with the Syrian passports. It's mentioned in OP.

Kuwait for instance implemented immediately for DNA immigration test screenings after the latest suicide bombings in Kuwait.

Such screenings will separate Lybians, Iraqis, Macedonians, etc from the Syrian legitimate refugees.

Till now, which is not reported yet, the Western European secret services are not working with their Syrian opponents. The Greek transit screening frome those terrorists could have been decisive with the Syrian feedback.

The French born terrorist at Bataclan concert hall went for almost one year in Syria through Turkey. French secret services ware aware of this.

For me it's not an issue of passports. It's more an issue of coordination of intel and screening methods...

Always when something like that happens they find a passport. Either the terrorists want it to be found or something else that I don't understand is happening.

When something seems so wrong it usually is. There is such a disconnect between the terrible damage and perfect passports found immediately after terrorist bombings. Well, why change something that works. Not sure which is worse, how stupid we are thought to be or how stupid we are.

I very much doubt IS has 50000 operaties to send into Europe.

That a few thousand IS fighters returned "home" is sad enough.

474 in Belgium I read. Something needs to be done about these people.

I could understand that the passport is there on purpose....I would accept that....but I can't see any reasonable purpose....For me it doesn't make sense....But everywhere the law abiding terrorists have their passports with them which is kind of strange.

There was that same morning an anti-terrorists exercise coordinating all Paris rescue services : police, swat, firemen, ambulances,...

The building of the Bataclan concert hall was sold 2 months ago. The private owners sold it after 40 years ownership.

There were 2 passports found close to the Stade de France: a Syrian and an Egyptian. French justice representatives told that the suicide belts at the football stadium were mixed with nails.

All other suicide bomb belt attacks were made without nails. They could trace the identity of the French born terrorist because they've found a finger in the concert hall...

French officials told that all the belts were manually push-button operated.

The Egyptian passport belonged to a man trying to enter the stadium to watch the game and got caught up in the suicide bomb.

He survived and the passport was returned to him in the hospital.

Because in France especially in Paris at night, and especially if you look from the Middle East and especially now after Charlie Hebdo, you can get stopped and asked to provide ID.

Hi officer heres my passport…don't mind the AK47 and suicide vest…just making a delivery for a client.

Being syrian makes it easier to become officially asylum seeker and some people understand how to make profit selling doctored or fake passports.

If you're on a lucky day you'll even might trespass the border without even being registred

And If you intend to blow yourself up, you do not need to bother if you leave tracks behind you or not, you just do not care what happens next.

The drove in cars to the attack places and needed to carry passport in case they got stopped and checked, they drove from Belgium remember (where you also need to carry your ID at all times), their AK47 would have been stored in the trunk.
