screening at immigration

Every time I do an extension or apply for a re entry permit they do it at samut prakan, TM30 also as well as every page of passport copied, 4 copies for 90 day reports

At least your getting your foot in the door. Here at CM you can arrive at 6.00 a.m. in the morning for your extension and you still might not get a queue number. Try that at age 77. If more people mailed their 90 days they might see fit to opening another table for extensions. There is a lot of respect in Thailand for the elderly just not the farang type.

Good, added security. I like it!

I they wanted a pic for when my 90 day reports are done it would be of my wife because she does them for me.

How are the agents getting around this picture requirement ? When I did my last Retirement Extension last month, at Chiang Mai, there was an agent in front of me with three extensions .

Do they just somehow use the digital image already on file.

...or do they somehow arrange for the picture to be done at passport pick-up time, with the alien doing the pick-up ?

Why do people do 90 address reports in person? Unless going for a visa extension at the same time I can see no reason or purpose for it.

Because for those of us who have remained in Thailand for quite a few years (and during that time you got a new passport), you can't do an online report ... or at least that's been the case. If you've entered/re-entered the country fairly recently, you'll be in the online reporting system ... probably.

Also, travelling to Jomtien and spending a minute in the office for the 90 day report in person is no more, probably less, of a hassle than preparing things to mail in and then traveling to a post office or mall mail service. Obviously if you live a great distance from your immigration office and/or you have to queue up for a long time to make the report, mailing would be more convenient.

In my case, @ Korat they don't accept mail in and I cant do it online as I have been inside Thailand too long.

Its not that far for me to drive but I do feel for the people that have to travel long distance or spend hours in line at the Immigration office.

I renewed my Visa (Retirement) 6 months ago @ Korat and they took my picture.

I did my 90 day report 10 days ago No picture taken.

Um, I just did my 90 day report at Jomtien 5 days ago and no photo taken or asked for. Must be a new requirement as a result of the Paris incident ?

(When I did my last extension (end of May) I had new passport photos which I included with my paperwork, but they never took (or asked for) any additional photos.)

I did a 90 day report yesterday. No photo. Didn't see them doing it at desk 8 either. Could be the normal off/on procedures we see at this office.

I got a multi entry in August and had my pic taken. Back today for another extension. I'll report back...

Some offices require the applicant to be present at immigration even if using an agent to at least get the photo taken.

As an FYI, they now have a place that takes photos and does photocopies right inside Jomtien immigration. I was doing an extension for my mother and had some copies with me. They said "no good". Too big, or too small. Said new copies were needed.

They made a bunch and even made extra copies of her pic by taking a pic of it then printing out 6 more copies for me. I was bracing myself for the bill....12 Baht. Did they make a mistake? I'm stunned....and super happy.

It would seem to be a rather large security gap in the system, given the incidents in Bangkok and world wide during the past year. Presumably the online photo process was added to tighten security, and ........the extension application does say that application must be made "in person"..

My health is quite poor, and I have been considering using the medical process next year for my extension, since I can not physically wait in line for several hours. However, the medical application is so complicated with affidavit, doctor letter. photos, etc -- does this mean I can use the normal extension application, and just give it to an agent?
