ICT moves forward with Digital Thailand policy

BANGKOK, 16 November 2015 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister Prajin Chantong has said that the Ministry of Information Communication Technology (MICT) has an important role in developing the country's infrastructure in a variety of ways concerning the use of digital technology.

The Digital Thailand policy will contribute to the national development and develop technology and people’s quality of life to enhance the country’s capacity and competitiveness in preparation for the advent of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). The MICT focuses on developing a network of community digital centers and creating opportunities and equality in the society.

ICT Minister Uttama Sawanayon has said that ICT will join hands with both public and private agencies to keep pace with the digital world by introducing digital technology to the country.

So how is the Great Firwall of Thailand coming along? THAT should really help in building Thailand's digital economy.

Which digit, forefinger up nose digit. Illegal windows XP digit. Only good for IE, no other browser cateed for digit. Long term plan digit. Built in redundancy digit. If only it was left to the clever professional nurds to plan and build the system, but the troughers will get in the way, and milk the funds, so maybe only half a digit left.

Just as long as you can control every byte of data flowing into or out of this country.

I have no doubt you will join/shake hands using one and the other will be holding a knife behind your back.

To paraphrase a quote attributed to Abraham Lincoln:

The National News Bureau of Thailand can compress the most words into the smallest ideas of any news service I ever read.

It will never happen This will not become the digital hub Thailand dreams of As long as they restrict Foreigners in Business and land ownership THere are other better choices in the world that have a better venue

Amen to that. But Thailand is so xenophobic nothing will ever change.

Look out Somalia, LOS is about to pass you.

The Thai better learn english first....gigglem.gif

Can you programme in Thai ?

Introducing digital technology to the country sounds great, until you experience the bureaucratic obstacles that have always existed here (and always will).

My ICT company in Thailand is still looking for experts on eCommerce.. Hard impossible to find Thai with the skills needed. I am not talking about OSCommerce that hasn't been supported for 10 years now, it's the latest version they know. They all know more about their iPhones than about their jobs.

They're no doubt the best paid cleaners, floor sweepers and coffee servers in the country.

Simply give private enterprise an open and free market to operate and it wil bring digital technology to Thailand. The government doesn't need to join anyone's hands. And that includes hands in one's back pockets.

Nobody here ever heard about: AND, OR, XOR, NOT, NAND, NOR, XNOR

Nobody can read English....
How they ever can move forward if they never started?

What a joke!
