November 16, 201510 yr So how is the Great Firwall of Thailand coming along? THAT should really help in building Thailand's digital economy.
November 16, 201510 yr Which digit, forefinger up nose digit. Illegal windows XP digit. Only good for IE, no other browser cateed for digit. Long term plan digit. Built in redundancy digit. If only it was left to the clever professional nurds to plan and build the system, but the troughers will get in the way, and milk the funds, so maybe only half a digit left.
November 16, 201510 yr The Digital Thailand policy will contribute to the national development and develop technology and people’s quality of life to enhance the country’s capacity and competitiveness in preparation for the advent of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). Just as long as you can control every byte of data flowing into or out of this country. ICT Minister Uttama Sawanayon has said that ICT will join hands with both public and private agencies to keep pace with the digital world by introducing digital technology to the country. I have no doubt you will join/shake hands using one and the other will be holding a knife behind your back.
November 16, 201510 yr To paraphrase a quote attributed to Abraham Lincoln: The National News Bureau of Thailand can compress the most words into the smallest ideas of any news service I ever read.

November 16, 201510 yr Is this going to happen before the universal free wifi we were promised a year ago? http://tech.thaivisa.com/free-wi-fi-thailand-next-april/1299/ Edited November 16, 201510 yr by cooked
November 17, 201510 yr Introducing digital technology to the country sounds great, until you experience the bureaucratic obstacles that have always existed here (and always will).
November 17, 201510 yr My ICT company in Thailand is still looking for experts on eCommerce.. Hard impossible to find Thai with the skills needed. I am not talking about OSCommerce that hasn't been supported for 10 years now, it's the latest version they know. They all know more about their iPhones than about their jobs. They're no doubt the best paid cleaners, floor sweepers and coffee servers in the country. Edited November 17, 201510 yr by FredNL
November 17, 201510 yr "ICT will join hands with both public and private agencies to keep pace with the digital world by introducing digital technology to the country." Simply give private enterprise an open and free market to operate and it wil bring digital technology to Thailand. The government doesn't need to join anyone's hands. And that includes hands in one's back pockets.
