webfact Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 'Deceased' Death Row Grandma Found Alive and WellBy Chayanit ItthipongmaeteeStaff ReporterBANGKOK — A 72-year-old woman turned herself in to police Tuesday after allegedly faking her own death to escape the death penalty.Juree Jan-ngam, who had been sentenced to die for the contract killing of her son’s fiancee eight years ago, turned herself in at the Crime Suppression Division in Bangkok after police were closing in on her whereabouts, nearly two years after she allegedly faked her death and disappeared. In 2007, Juree was accused of hiring someone to murder Riewprae Chotikarn, who was three-months pregnant with Juree’s grandson and was set to marry her son, Wikrom Jan-Ngam. Juree, a wealthy Songkhla businesswoman, reportedly disapproved of her son marrying Riewprae. The hit went down in a clinic, and Riewprae’s assistant was also cut down in the gunfire.Full story: http://www.khaosodenglish.com/detail.php?newsid=1447834090 -- Khaosod English 2015-11-18

NextStationBangkok Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Good story for Thai Television dramas!
jaywalker Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Regular old Ma Barker from the sound of this tale. I was just saying that the 75 year old N. Korean refugee was probably harmless in another thread. I guess you never can tell. Those cops sure do seem to like that camera though.
Pimay1 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Maybe the bride to be was asking for too much sin sod.
The Deerhunter Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Regular old Ma Barker from the sound of this tale. I was just saying that the 75 year old N. worgeordie Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 If she was sentenced to death, how on earth was she able to fake her own death and go on the lam, oh! I forgot she is rich and most likely was let out on bail.its only the poor who go straight to jail, don't pass go. regards worgeordie
cornishcarlos Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 5 mil bail, claimed back by her daughter when she "died"
JAG Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I don't believe she is guilty, - not one copper is pointing at her!
Dap Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Regular old Ma Barker from the sound of this tale. I was just saying that the 75 year old N. Korean refugee was probably harmless in another thread. I guess you never can tell. Those cops sure do seem to like that camera though. Ma Baker I think you mean. There actually was a Ma Barker who headed an infamous group called the Barker-Karpis Gang. Murder, kidnapping, robbery etc, etc back in 20/30's in the US. A fairly nasty bunch so the story goes
razer Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Well ... the RTP is polite enough not to be pointing a half dozen fingers at the little old lady.
Alration Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 If she was sentenced to death, how on earth was she able to fake her own death and go on the lam, oh! Reigntax Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Its a miracle. Reincarnated and looks exactly like she did in the previous life.
springheeled jack Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 another farce sentenced to death for a murder which she arranged she is out on a 5million baht bail fakes her own death and disappears for eight years although she is seen from time to time she wasn't arrested absolutely unbelievable .
Prbkk Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 This is the old dragon who had been participating in Suthep's rallies in Bangkok ( previous article in the BP about a week ago) and then thought she was no longer on the radar so started going shopping at her old haunts. Dumb as XXXX and vicious.
Hawk Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Aren't the Thai cops clever! Arresting a granny who surrenders.
bannork Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Aren't the Thai cops clever! Arresting a granny who surrenders. Engage brain before replying Dave Brock, she only surrendered, meaning handed herself in, because she knew the cops were on to her, by giving herself up she is hoping to avoid the death sentence, not much point at her age mind you.
falangjim Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 She turned herself in. No credit need be given the RTP.
waldroj Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 The photograph certainly doesn't lie! They look like a pack of hyenas hungrily waiting to move in for the kill. Even more pathetic when shown in the television news this morning. Whilst this may seem normal for Thais, it only reinforces the cultural abyss that separates their values from those of westerners.

A fairly nasty bunch so the story goes correct, however the songs called her "Ma Baker" hence the confusion
LukKrueng Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Look How many cops can stand there proudly as if they actually apprehended this fugitive....... Who turned herself in lol Any excuse for a job well done photograph and a pat on the back.... Good job lads! The OP says: "after police were closing in on her whereabouts", so seems the DID something and were about to apprehend her, otherwise she'd probably still be out there.

NongKhaiKid Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Look How many cops can stand there proudly as if they actually apprehended this fugitive....... Who turned herself in lol Any excuse for a job well done photograph and a pat on the back.... Good job lads! I hope next time the photographer uses a wide angle lens as the poor BIB on the far right aren't getting proper exposure.
duckmandon Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Look How many cops can stand there proudly as if they actually apprehended this fugitive....... Who turned herself in lol Any excuse for a job well done photograph and a pat on the back.... Good job lads! If they stand around looking good then they don't have to get off their bums & do anything. The proof that their good is in the photo shoots. Get real & get real Police. May as well have those manequins standing there. Would be cheaper as they don't have to get paid. They would probably work harder as well.
Briggsy Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I wonder what this woman's relationship with her son is like. Just imagine a 64-year-old mother arranging the assassination of her son's fiancee. Whatever is the dynamic between them? Utter control freak and spoiled brat with the mentality of a 5-year-old perhaps?
