Take it every day to work from Asoke to the last pier towards Minburi (Wat Si Boonreung). Boats travel both directions all day long; last boat from Wat Si Boonreung back to downtown is 7 pm (630 I believe on the weekend).

thanks, but says here there is a line beyond that Wat Si Boon:

......could be an old reference, for seems like many older lines stopped?

Klong Saen Saeb
See the locations on Khlong Saen Saeb Express Boat Google Map
Change from Saphan Hua Chang Pier to Rachathewi Skytrain Station; Change from Asoke Pier to Petchaburi Metro Station.
Why get stuck in the heavy traffic on Bangkok streets? A more fast way to get to many attractions is the water Taxi: longtail boats on Klong Saen Saeb. If you live in a Hotel or Guesthouse near Khao San Road its quite near: The Golden Mount line runs from Phanfa Bridge to Pratunam Pier. Here you can change to Nida Line. Useful Piers: Tha Phanfa (Banglamphoo), Tha Saphan Hua Chang (near Jim Thompson's House and MBK shopping), Tha Pratunam (off Ratchprarop road near the World Trade Center), Tha Asok (off Asok road, Sukhumvit Soi 21, and off Soi Ekkamai, off Sukhumvit road.
On Klong Saen Saeb you can travel as far as to Min Buri. You change from Nida Line at Wat Sri Bunruang. From Wat Sru Bunruang there is now a free boat service to Minburi Market. On Weekdays the boats run every 15 minutes from 6 am to 9 am and 4 pm to 7.30 pm. During the weekend the boats run every half hour. There are 14 piers along the route. The boat stops, if you give a signal.

Saen Saep boats are all day in both directions. I take it from Phetchaburi to Wat Klang (one stop before The Mall Bangkapi), it takes 35 minutes in rush hour (I go 5 pm). It's a torture: standing, extremely crowded, very noisy engine, getting on and off. But at least I know it's over after 35 minutes, whereas a similar trip by bus could easily take over one hour.

A map of network and timetable is posted at every station. I don't think it extends beyond Wat Bun. I was at Kwan Riam floating market last year, there were sluice gates that did not look like these boats could pass.

Last year I saw map of Khlong Phasi Charoen boat line is posted at BTS station west of river, I took pictures to prepare for trip, but haven't been yet.

the minburi extension must have died or remains a someday thing, but above it sure looks like it existed, as there are times it runs etc .......

what about the ransit canal khlong boats, do those exist?

I recently was around Klong Rangsit and noticed there are piers a bit smaller than those on Chao Phraya. But then I spent an hour on a floating restaurant (Sunday evening, around 5 pm) and there were no boats passing, nor did I see boats moored anywhere.

Can now confirm boat tours on Khlong Maha Sawat (Nakon Pathom, Salaya) from Wat Suwan pier, operate 8-16 every day, 350 per boat (can seat 6, but I found 3 Farang is just right, more would be crowded) for sightseeing fruit orchard, orchid farm, lotus farm. No English spoken, saw some boats with Thai tourists and some Farang tourists in long-tail boats, who probably came all the way from Chao Phraya.

We were six, but that would be uncomfortable in one boat, so we took two. The tour was about 3 hours (most of which on land, with boat waiting for our return).
