BANGKOK, 26 November 2015 (NNT) - Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-Chan has attended a meeting to assess the readiness of the “BIKE FOR DAD” event, to be held on December 11th in commemoration of His Majesty the King’s 88th Birthday Anniversary on 5th December of this year.

The Prime Minister instructed officials to prepare for the event to the best of their abilities and to take into consideration the interests of all sides.

After the meeting, Gen Prayut, along with other senior officials such as Chirayu Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, Director-General of the Crown Property Bureau, Charungjit Teekara, Her Majesty the Queen’s Private Secretary and ACM Satitpong Sukvimol, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince's Private Secretary, received BIKE FOR DAD polo shirts, pins and bracelets in front of an image of Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has called for security to be tightened in narrow streets and places overlooking the cycling route after receiving reports of potential disruption plots.

Does anyone know if it is possible to bring my own bike from the UK to use for this event without having to pay an extortionate import duty at the airport for what is an average bike in used condition ?

any advice or tips would be gratefully appreciated

also all smart and cocky reply's are also welcome as I enjoy a laugh as much as anyone else

Yes most people are eagerly waiting for the PM to be on his bike, ride back to the military compound and do whatever they normally do inbetween coups.

If you are British or Aussie, you may already be aware of this idiom. " on yer bike!"

On yer bike!

(British & Australian very informal)

an impolite way of telling someone to go away 'Can you lend me some money?' 'On yer bike, mate!'
