Five Rohingyas arrested in Hat Yai after they sneaked into the country from Myanmar

HAT YAI -- Five Rohingyas illegal immigrants have been arrested by police and local officials at a hideout in Hat Yai while awaiting to be smuggled out to a third country.

The five Rohingyas, aged between 18-21, told interrogators that they each paid a human trafficking gang 24,000 baht to get them into a third country. They said altogether about 30 of them were put into a boat which took them from Myanmar to Ranong nine days ago.

After landing, they split up in groups of between 5-10 and headed toward different directions.

The five of them were taken to Hat Yai where they were lodged in a house in Soi Tasabaan 16 while waiting for another gang member to smuggle them out of the country to a third country, possibly Malaysia.

The five Rohingyas are detained at the district’s immigration police office pending further instruction from the head office in Bangkok.

Another bombing? This time in Hat Yai.

Incidentally, the policeman stationed near the Erawan Shrine don't look particularly vigilant.
