BANGKOK: -- Work at a Bangkok government office this morning began with terror when a widow held a knife to her neck and demanded to see the government spokesman.

Piyamon Thirahiranthamrong, 48, threatened to hurt herself at the Office of the Civil Service Commission if she couldn’t speak with M.L. Panadda Diskul over the “unfair” ruling on her dead husband's inheritance.

It is unclear what her issues were, but Piyamon said that despite filing complaints and visiting the office several times, there had been no progress on her case.

Mr. M.L. Panadda Diskul couldn't care less about a meaningless poor widow's suicide......... sad but true............. one victim less, Thai life is cheap for those arrogant government officials

"The staff called in an officer from the Ministry of Justice to speak to Piyamon and calm her down. The office promised to look into her complaint, and so she left without harming herself, Naewna reported."

She pulled a knife, threatened self harm and was allowed to just walk out, hmm...

The things one has to do to get a hearing here or shake Government officials out of their lethargic apathy.

They got their fridge, microwave, and hot drinks, a desk and chair, life is good.

"...this morning began with terror..."

A bit of an over-statement. Was someone terrorized they might get blood on them?

No, they thought they may have to do something

Thankfully she did not use the "American" solution which would have left a boatload of dead in the wake of her frustration. I like the Thai approach better!

Yeah, always best to let someone unstable enough to pull a knife and threaten self harm unless they get their way walk out afterwards.

What could go wrong with that approach, eh?
