FBI investigating San Bernardino shooting as “act of terrorism”





In the United States, Wednesday’s (November 2) San Bernardino massacre of 14 people is now being investigated by the FBI as an “act of terrorism.”

Investigators found two mobile phones which had been crushed and dumped near the shooting scene. The devices showed “telephonic connections” between the suspects and other people of FBI interest.

The Aamaq news agency, which apparently supports the froup calling itself Islamic State (ISIL) reportedly claimed that ISIL followers carried out the attack.

However the FBI has not revealed any evidence to suggest an ISIL connection.

“As of today, based on the information and the facts as we know them, we are now investigating these horiffic acts as an act of terrorism,” an FBI official told reporters.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest spoke earlier about the scope of the probe.

“Again, there are significant resources, investigative resources that are being dedicated of getting to the bottom of what exactly transpired, to learning as much as we possibly can about the shooters, about their foreign travel, about their foreign contacts, about their use of social media, about their potential motives. And that work is well underway,” said Earnest.

Tashfeen Malik and her husband, Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, were killed in a shootout with police hours after the massacre during a Christmas party at the Inland Regional Center social services agency in San Bernardino, about 100km miles east of Los Angeles.

The attack was the deadliest mass shooting the United States has experienced in three years.

Yes and the FBI is now looking at Terrorist Organizations like ISIS and Al'Quaida using arranged marriages to get their operatives to the west. Certainly seems so in this case.

So far Obama has not been able to influence the FBI like he does the State Department and hopefully it will stay that way. The FBI will call it what it is, terrorism.

For those that have jumped through the hoops of getting a spousal visa to the US for your Thai wife, how the heck did they let this Pakistani-Saudi Arabian jihadist, Tashfeen Malik, get a marriage visa? Dump the whole program and department if you are going to strictly scrutinize Thai wives, but give a quick green light to Muslims.

Having just gone through this process, and knowing a few people who have gone through it, it's not too difficult. It's very bureaucratic, but if your paperwork is in order and you are married it's not all that difficult. The fiance visa used to be difficult, I don't know how difficult it is now, but you did have to prove a genuine relationship and show that it's not a marriage for immigration purposes.

I doubt that that either of these two would have given up much information in the interview process. He was a US born citizen and he had the financial means to support a wife. She was well educated.

I am afraid that closing that door would ultimately be more harmful than helpful. These people had managed to stay off any law enforcement radar.

And he met her through an online dating website. No excuses, It wasn't a genuine marriage, it was a sham. DHS needs to be closed down and the CIA needs to start trolling online dating sites for Muslims from Middle-Eastern countries.

OK, now it is starting to look more like terrorism and not so much a personal score to settle or maybe it is more of a "killing-two-birds-with-one-stone" type of deal...terrorism and settling a personal vendetta.

I hope they catch more bad guys connected to this before they can do harm. Whatever leads there are, the FBI with the help of other well known US agencies, will track them down.

And I guess you are not aware that anyone who wishes to act and follow Sharia are free to do so.

The caveat being that they are free to leave whatever part of the US / EU they currently are and go to a Country that freely practices Sharia.
