December 6, 201510 yr I'm arriving in CM next week and I want to order some goods online before I arrive Is it wise to use the post restante service? Does anyone have experience using the service? And which post office address should I use? Thanks!
December 6, 201510 yr If you're shipping goods then it's best to do it as tracked (EMS) mail, all the way to the end destination, which I would recommend to be your hotel or other place you will stay, after confirming with them that they'll receive and hold it for you. If you do that then you can track it at http://track.thailandpost.co.th/tracking/default.aspx?lang=en You don't mention if this gets shipped from abroad or not, but depending on the type and value of the goods, import duty may be levied. Usually small items that are marked as low value will just pass through when using regular tracked mail. (Don't use FedEx and the like if duties are a concern, they're in bed with the government.) Also if from abroad, it won't get here in a week. If it's crucial then you're back at DHL et al. December 7, 201510 yr Author Thanks for the info Where would I pick it up if I sent it poste restante?
December 7, 201510 yr The only Thailand Post Office I have seen that has a Post Restante window is the one near the train station. mention of this reminds me of ancient days gone by. Telling your correspondents: "We'll be in Afghanistan in July. Mail us at Poste Restante, Kabul."
