Not going to join the TV speculator crew, just very sad indeed. Guy is on holiday, girl on back, all good and wham, done.

RIP

Sad? Perhaps. Stupid, more than likely. If you look at the picture, there doesn't seem to be much, if any, damage to the car, or the bike, so apparently he wasn't going very fast. At least not fast enough to kill him from the impact. That pretty much narrows it down to slamming his head on the pavement, which means STUPID, as if he was wearing a helmet, even a cheap one, chances are, at that slow of speed, it might have saved his life.

So, to change your statement somewhat...."Guy is on holiday, girl on back (no helmet on head), all is (not) good and wham, done.

Anyone who get on a bike, and I don't care if it's a Wave, Sonic or Gold Wing, and doesn't wear a helmet, deserves whatever happens to them. I won't even drive my PCX or Forza to the 7-11 just half a kilometer from my house without putting my helmet on first.

Ah ! Sainthood awaits you!bah.gif

Maybe in the Health and Medicine part of the forum we can get a self-righteousness recovery thread going.

So Just1Voice have you seen the report from the other news?

Driver hit them from behind, the Lufthansa Engineer who you refer to as "stupid", was caught underneath the car as the driver tried to get away.

In your opinion, because he didn't have a helmet on he deserved to be hit from behind and crushed under a car that with him underneath was not stopping?

Even with your helmet on guy, doubt you would have survived. Do you feel real great about your post?

I agree with post #34, good follow-up story, with a lot more detail.

The real story proves what a waste of time it is speculating, as many of the posts above do.

Just because the initial media coverage was scant of detail, there is nothing to be gained from your foolish speculation.

RIP to the German guy.

sort of right but we could also be missing the information that mr german was drunk and decided to go from riding on the left to zigzagging in the middle of the street. So we still know nothing. He could of been sober and a terrible driver. Have seen lots of bad bike driver moving 2-3m to the right in my face out of the blue with nothing in front of them. Ms thai might of tried to run out of fear. When you hit something big you dont always think rationally.

Would need a full CSI investigation to get any kind of truth.

Jeez - some right fools here on Thaivisa. Clear case of the lady driver drives into the back of the bike. Why not claim she was the drunk one, police not even check her blood for alcohol.

It's very possible that he swerved in front of her and got hit from behind. Saying anything else is speculation. People on bike rarely have the sense of hearing or the ability ot look into mirrors or even to use their neck muscle to look on their side before zig zagging. Just like the farang expat i saw an hour ago in front of home & garden zigzagging to the curb then zigzagging back in front of a bike going faster than him then zigzagging back to the curb and then in front of a big truck without ever knowing that he almost died from behind TWICE in 5seconds. Both had to break hard to not hit him. Common sight.

We'll never know though.

BP you are completely contradicting yourself, let this one go.

P.S.-your "zig-zagging farang at home and garden" has nothing to do with this accident.

A couple of days ago, I had one hell of a time, trying to overtake a bike, which was swerving all over the road ( I prefer eradic people to be behind me..., as far behind as possible)

As I did finally manage to overtake the fool, I noticed that his bike didn't even have RV mirrors.

Maybe the thinking was that they catch wind and slow you down, like lights waste electricity

so if the idiot i saw earlier had gotten hit and ran over by a truck and the truck had tried to keep going over his dead body, it would not have been the same thing as mr german that got hit from behind and had his perpatror try to keep going over his body? Where's your proof that it wasnt mr german's fault and that the thai woman just went ape-shit after, not knowing how to cope with killing someone?

All im saying is even with phuketwan's story, we still dont know anything other than mr german was obese, had bought a bar/cafe for a woman and visited her every few months.

Also may i know what's so confusing about starting with "its very possible" and finishing with "we'll never know though"

Driver of the car was not breath tested or drug tested - why not????

Probably "connected."

Yet another tragey on Phuket's roads.

With no hope at all for proper public transport here, road death will continue at unacceptable levels.

Given the time of the accident, it's possible everyone involved was intoxicated.
