webfact Posted December 7, 2015 Share Posted December 7, 2015 Hua Lampong Train Station closed on Dec 11thBANGKOK, 7 December 2015 (NNT)-Train commuters are urged to board trains at either Bang Sue or Makkasan Stations instead of Hua Lampong on December 11 to allow for the cycling event ‘BIKE FOR DAD’.Mr. Thanongsak Pongprasert of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) said trains bound for the central train station or Hua Lampong this Friday will pick up passengers at Bang Sue and Makkasan stations from noon until 20.00 hrs.Train tracks in the vicinity of Hua Lampong Station will be covered with metal sheets to prevent cycling accidents. Meanwhile, the Bank of Thailand (BoT) will suspend its counter service on Friday to allow the event to take place. Perhaps the organizers should have chosen a better route, one that did NOT impact mass transit centers. Are the participants cycling through the train station? If only everyone knew whether Friday was a working day, or not. You're funny. If new york closed down every time there was a parade we'd have more holidays than Thailand. And bike rides with tens if thousands of people ? We got those too. Longer than this ride even. And we got actual marathons where you run a full course and not four laps around a park or ones that start at midnight. And for each and every event, you would never know is going on unless you were right there. No need for this back and forth nonsense, about whether its a public holiday or shutting down public transport which you need even MORE on days like this. I don't see why the Kanchanaburi service would not be running and no, it will not be sold out. The train is all 3rd class so they can cram as many people as need be inside. Enjoy your trip!
