Overstay by 2days on Non-immigrant ED Visa

Featured Replies

I recently tried to renew my visa for 15days as I leave the country back home on the 17.12. They only gave me a 7 day extension and said I can get it extended another 7 days after that. However today i tried this and they said I must leave the country and comeback today in order to get the extension. I'm aware the borders are closed as it is coronation day so friday 11.12 I will head to Cambodia from Bangkok for the extension. I want to know if this overstay will cause problems at the border as I am willing to pay the fine and hoping to get back into the country until I leave on the 17th. My ED Visa doesn't expire until 18.12

Could someone please shed some light on this as I know the authorities can be harsh.?

1.Boarders are never closed

2.Visas are never extended.

3. The the 7 day extension of stay you were given can only be obtained once !

4. Extensions of stay are not available at boarders .

If you are from a G7 country you will be given a New visa exempt entry of 30 days or if you come from elsewhere 15 days.

Visa Exempt Entries can be extended by 30 days at an immigration office.

Overstay is charged at 500 Bht/Day and has no negative effects on your ability to return to Thailand

I hold a Finnish passport, so does this mean I should be able to get the 15day visa exempt by going over by foot to Cambodia and back?

The overstay won't cause problems when re-entering Thailand?

I understand that flying is a safer way but obviously more pricey.

You will get a 15 day visa exempt entry.

You will not have a problem entering the country with a previous short overstay.
