Trump defends Muslim entry ban as “the right thing to do”

A president should be a strong decisive leader, that can employ tact and diplomacy. Trump lacks the latter two, that's why, although a lot of people might support his ideas, he will not become president.

And even if he did, he will soon wake up and find that economic interests always play up and trump other interests. After all, at the end of the day, Americans just don't want to pay more than a dollar to the gallon.

I read that 1 in 5 Democrats agree with Trump on this.

You are reaching. Or maybe just wishful thinking. Viewing Islam unfavourably is by no means an expression of support for Trump. Most of those surveyed admit they do not know anything of Islam. I would say that a majority of those people, if they learned more about Islam from someone other than Geller or her hate-mongering acolytes, would change that view. Importantly, under 35's are less likely to have an unfavourable view of Islam.

The grumpy old troglodytes' days are numbered. The new generation is coming and it is multicultural. The bigots and haters on the margins will be pushed further to the edge of irrelevance.

Good onya Trump,,,,Get a petition going over the Whole World and you will see that there are Billions of people backing up Trump,For all the countries.

I have not seen any credible statistic supporting your claim but fairly sure, at least 25%

of the world population around world not supporting this nutter.

Well there is at least half a million people who do not want to see Trump in the UK.

The thing is everyone makes a somewhat valid point. The Donald is correct, the system did not

and will not stop an already radicalized Muslim from entering the country on a marriage visa.

But the husband was an American Muslim and radicalized himself.

Converts like the shoe bomber (British) are often the worst. Not sure how you are going

to stop crazies like him. Of course the Donald is trying to stop as many as he can.

but no policy can stop all crazies. Look at all the gun violence across the US. I have no idea

what the answer is. The Donald is just running this up the flagpole and seeing who salutes.

I am sure a lot of NRA-Tea Party-GOP right wingers (as apposed to GOP moderates)

All very entertaining as far as I am concerned. whistling.gif

Research is always good but at least, if you would have researched a little more objective and less selective, you would have found that in the US alone, there has been at least eight murders, 17 attempted murders, 42 bombings, and 186 arsons targeted at abortion clinics and providers across the United States by Christian Catholic Jihadis.

You must have completely forgotten or ignored Hitler atrocities in the name of religion. (In his book, he claimed to be Luciferian and wanted to destroy God's people). In the beginning of Hitler's road to power, he behaved in just the same way as Mickey Mouse Trump does. Funny enough, half a century later, half of his supporters claim innocence as they "didn't know" or had 'no choice".
What's about genocide in Rwanda where One priest burned down his own church to kill hundreds of Tutsi's who had taken sanctuary there. Not 100 of years ago but in 2001. Where Nuns even supplied the gasoline to burn their victims.
What's about the American Baptist, Paul Lewis, who sterilized more than 20,000 Akha Hill Tribe women in Burma’s Eastern Shan State alone. This was done secretly, and blood was stolen from these women for resale, taken during the sterilization procedure. More than 3,000 of the women died.
The list could go on and on and on ...
At least if you research stuff, try to inform yourself rather than just filtering out what is to your benefit.
BTW, the Olympic team attack was done by Palestinians, Christian and Muslim Palestinians. So are many of the atrocities you mention rather policicaly then religeously motivated.

Just on a simple practical basis, how exactly does he expect this to work? Don't think most muslims have any discernible features that make their faith obvious....so here ya go:

Immigration Officer: "Are you a Muslim?"

Terrorist: "No Sir"

Immigration Official: "Thank you very much Sir, I see you have a valid visa. Welcome to the United States, enjoy your stay"

So in other words, all of this is pointless BS in Donald J Trump's relentless fairground barker act.

(TX) Gov. Abbott: US Govt. 'Importing Danger' With Refugee Program

http://insider.foxnews.com/2015/12/09/gov-abbott-us-govt-importing-danger-refugee-program

This US District Court judge in Austin TX told Texas it has no evidence terrorists are among the refugees designated to take shelter in the state. The federal judge said Texas has to provide proof of its claims in a court of law, which it cannot do.

The judge acted swiftly and decisively, turning this case down on the same day it was filed by Texas.

Texas cannot set its own foreigh policy besides. The government of the state of Texas and its residents are subject to the US Constitution just as all residents are of the United States.

Judge Blocks Another Request in Texas to Deny Syrian Refugees

AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) - A U.S. federal court judge dismissed a request by Texas shortly after it was filed on Wednesday seeking a restraining order to block the imminent entry into the state of nine Syrian refugees, saying the evidence presented was "largely speculative hearsay."

"The (Texas) Commission has failed to show by competent evidence that any terrorists actually have infiltrated the refugee program, much less that these particular refugees are terrorists intent on causing harm," U.S District Judge David Godbey said in his decision.

The results of this case could determine whether the governors of more than 30 states will be able to go through with plans to bar the local resettlement of Syrian refugees.

http://canmua.net/te...ian-199759.html

Texas last week had to withdraw its first filing with the federal district court, so this is the second such filing, which is why the headline says 'another'.

Texas last week withdrew the first filing three hours after US Department of Justice filed a brief with the federal court saying only the federal government can set immigration policy, that the states have no standing or authority to make their own immigration policy.

Texas did not want to try to directly challenge this specific point in the federal courts, so it scrambled to withdraw its filing last week and take another approach. Texas rewrote its filing to the the present denied filing that is now rejected on the basis of (imagined and concocted) terrorism. The Texas confused attorney general needs to figure out whether he is coming or going on this because he just met himself on the way back.

The president's immigration executive action of November last year that was stopped by cherry picked federal judges in Texas and in New Orleans is now before SCOTUS for a decision expected by the end of June. In that case, the 26 Republican controlled states led by Texas got a filing extension from SCOTUS of eight days instead of their requested extension of 30 days. SCOTUS is not going to delay a ruling on this one either.

The 23% in your uncited data plus the rest of the vast majority of the electorate are going to run the Republican party out of the next election.

R party leaders in Washington and in the state capitals are having a nervous breakdown at the "down ballot" effect of this on other Republican party candidates for office. That includes the Senate, the House, governor's offices and in state legislatures. R party bosses and high operatives already have accepted that they can't win the presidency in November next year. Too much severe damage done by them already, presently.

It's all but official now the Republican party is the anti-Muslims of the world party in the United States. That takes it nowhere. And fast.

Trump = Mussolini?

The strongman using extra-constitutional means, methods, goals.

Use the democratic system to grab power to ignore the Constitution and the congress. Trump has so far let the Supreme Court be but what will Trump say about them when he gets around to it.

No one is above Donald Trump. Definitely reminiscent of el Duce'.

Wow...your comments are exactly what Obama has been doing for the last 7 years. Now that you shoe is on the other foot you have a problem with it?

The post is the old turn the tables on the other guy gimmick. When there's nothing to say as a response, the tired, glib and trite turn the tables trick gets pulled out of the hat.

The polls indicate Trump is going to win this thing going away. Better get used to the words "President Trump"

The post refers to the Republican party nomination to run for POTUS. All the reliable and respected polling says Trump will be slaughtered in the general election if he is the R party nominee, or if he runs as an Independent. Muslims everywhere and the broad swathe of Americans can take a great comfort in the fact.

Polling has a definite validity but combining it with the oddsmakers and their money lines is also a factor to include. People who put their money where their mouth is might also get some consideration in the overall equation.

Here are the money lines as of today to be elected the next POTUS:

HR Clinton is at 8-11 which converts to the probability of 73%

Marco Rubio is at 4-1, which is a probability of 20% to be elected president.

Donald Trump is at 6-1, which presents the probability of 14.3% to be elected POTUS

Cruz is at 14-1 or the probability of 6.6%

JEBush is at 16-1 or 5.8%

Bernie Sanders is at 16-1 or 5.8%

Chris Christie weighs in at 25-1 which means not to bother doing any calculation of probability percentage.

A probability of 73% of anything is a walk. At that probability all that needs to be done is to count the ballots.

Yes, it is a long way out and away from the election next November and the whole of the time definitely will be ugly, mean spirited, suspenseful, difficult to navigate.

Which means the Republican party is in for a long cold winter followed by a long hot summer then a fall that it will never forget.

I do not touch on socio-cultural issues in Islamic countries. I guess I have worked in about a dozen or so, from Turkey to Afghanistan to Indonesia. On a superficial level, I would probably agree with your assessment about the move away from liberalism in Muslim countries. But can this be explained through a broad brush approach? I enjoyed working with Turkish officials and the country remains very secular but the context there is quite unique. The secularism of the first President, Ataturk being maintain for generations by the military and the move to more rigid Islam seeming to be a reaction against military dictatorship and control. Afghanistan was on the hippy trail in the 70's when mini skirts could be seen in Cairo and Beirut. American took a sharp turn to the right after the swinging 60's and 70's when they voted Reagan and Michael J. Fox played a popular TV character who was a right wing preppy frat boy. And you have made a number of observations about Indonesia.

I am not really an orientalist in terms of scholarship. My interest in that region ended after Constantinople finally fell to the Muslim Turks in 1453, contributing to the Renaissance through the release of thousands of books from the libraries filtering through to the West. I also have an interest in linguistics, particularly the history of languages and the interpretation of lost languages. So I 'pop into' that region occasionally particularly when the 18th and 19th C europeans started to develop the science of archaeology and using archaeological principles to translate languages like Egyptian hieroglyphs, Assyrian Cuneiform and others.

You point to the new generation of Islamists and their role in radicalisation and the threats they pose to other societies. Yes, I agree that this is a trend but I don't have any answers on the cause or consequences without more thought. Does this trend in itself justify the imposition of travel bans on Muslims to the US as advocated by Trump? It would be foolish to say that there is not a line from these fundamentalist zealots and the carnage that exists in many countries and terrorist attacks in the West. I would caution against oversimplification. To give Trump his due, after announcing this 'brain-fart' of a strategy, he did qualify it to say 'until we work out what to do'. I almost had to swallow my tongue at hearing something sensible until he elaborated with his usual empty headed ideas. Seeking such a pause is probably not very meaningful since it really isn't up to Trump or Americans in terms of what Muslims do and it might be argued that the touch of a number of American institutions has been quite heavy in the region over the past few decades.

I don't agree with your final sentence but unless the hysteria can be controlled, you may well be proved right.

I think the points you raise are worthy of discussion. It won't happen. There is no engagement. Bigotry and hatred supported by commercially oriented websites that push twisted ideological agendas reign supreme at the moment. The current US President has tried to engage but is trapped by the institutions that form the national security state surrounding him pushing the drones and the 'military option' and the rest of the Right Agenda. The next President needs to also be a leader on this. Not a stirrer.

But what do you care? You've had your shot. You won't be around when the Millenials have to deal with the outcome of their cultural, social, political and economic contributions. One thing they know is that a lot of their efforts will have to be spent on fixing the environmental damage caused by previous generations.

Your language is is uncompromising. My experience of this generation of my extended family and of friends on 3 different continents is very different. I am constantly amazed by the sensitivity and awareness of these wonderful and beautiful people.

On hash-tags, I have not learned to be comfortable with these but I remember when that Australian of Iranian heritage took over a coffee shop and killed a number of innocent people in what was proven not to be an 'islamic terrorist' attack (the hysterical types forgot about the difference between Shia and Sunni in their zeal), someone started a hash-tag #Illridewithyou to provide safe escorts to Muslim people in Australia in the face of low class, violent bigots and racists. I do not share your scorn for social media. This particular action was a prideful event for a proud Australian.

When you were younger did you ever think the sort of reactionary crap that you post would come out of you? It is so disappointingly cliche really. I'd rather stay with the young people and leave the grumpy old farts to their giks on the beaches of Thailand.

His motives are heinous. His intentions are selfish. His plans are grandiose. His thirst for power and recognition knows no bounds. His judgment is terrible. His intellect is suspect. His loyalty is only to himself. His greed rules everything he does, and will ever do. He will never do anything because it is the right thing to do, as it is not in his nature. He is foul. He is corrupt. He is hateful, racist, misogynistic, intolerant, and simple minded. His hunger for power makes one wonder to what extent he would go to amass more of it. Fascism? Dictatorship? Martial law? Dropping nukes on difficult countries? This fool is capable of making problems of the sort we have not even contemplated yet. To call him potentially dangerous would be under stating the facts to a great degree.

And this goon should get his facts straight, something that has never gotten in his way.

Fact checkers squawked at his claims about Mexican immigration. They pointed out that net immigration from Mexico is now zero, if not negative (that is, the number of people returning to Mexico from the U.S. is at least as great as the number of new arrivals), and that there are now more arrivals from Asia than from Latin America.

But, does that bother this creep, when a mere lie can gain him so much mileage? Of course not. Lies come very naturally to him. It is in his nature to avoid truth.

Like it or not, like Trump or not, it was an absolutely brilliant political move.

He did not call for a ban, in effect he called for a temporary pause until our current leaders could figure it out.

Here's the deal, you have the FBI saying they cannot vet the refugees, you have ISIS threatening to infiltrate
the refugees, you have 30+ governors who don't want them, DHS also says there is no way to vet them. There are
probably more stories.

So, the current administration wants to ram them through anyway against the advice of the aforementioned

agencys in their own administration. The Media goes totally ape with the racist fascist Hitler name calling, before

they realize that FDR and Jimmy Carter both did similar or worse things, both democrat administrations.

On top of all that it brings once again into the public debate the topic of Radical Islamic Terrorism, which Obama
refuses to even recognize.

Then, Trumps poll ratings rise as the government proves him right, they are a bumbling bunch of idiots, stupid people
and the media fulfills their role as dishonest. Trump looks to many like he's a leader.

I say brilliant political move, agree with him or not.

Thanks for the comments on my post, but you are missing one big piece of the jigsaw in this war

Indonesia

Why is it we hear nothing from them, the worlds biggest Muslim population in one country. This will be the end game for sure, I can see ISIS taking over this country in a heart beat, its probably already in the planning knowing how one step ahead they seem to be

ISIS is rich, they could turn the military there and have there own haven with 80%+ supporting them

Mock if you want, I see this....................

Just on a simple practical basis, how exactly does he expect this to work?

As I understand it, Saudi Arabia uses certificates of baptism to keep British Jews out. Whether there is intelligence as to apostates who have become Moslems, I don't know, though it wouldn't be daft to collect it - converts are quite likely to have excessive enthusiasm.

I haven't worked out how he would admit decent pagans from pagan countries - "Sonthi Boonyaratglin" doesn't look like a Moslem name to me. Perhaps visitors from pagan countries would need theophorous names - and I don't mean names like Yahya = 'John' = 'the LORD is gracious'.

I suggest the Indo military are wealthier than Daesh. Silence in Indo regarding Daesh? Incorrect - just one example below, there are others if you care to look.

Organization Tells ISIS To Get Lost - A 50-million strong Sunni movement in Indonesia just launched a global anti-extremism campaign.
