What's Next For The Human Family?

Featured Replies

According to Ernst Mayr (a renowned German biologist), “the average lifespan of a species is about 100,000 years.” He concluded that humans were a kind of “biological error”, using their allotted time to destroy themselves, and in the process, much else.

The human species has surely developed the capacity to do just that, and dramatically so, and especially within the past few hundred years. Human beings have assaulted the very environment that sustains their own existence (in general), and they have done so with a cold and calculated savagery, upon each other as well.

Personal note: My granddaughter currently serves as a shipmate in the U.S. Navy. She reports (for example) that the huge amount of trash floatsom littering the Earth's oceans (particularly the Pacific_Ocean), is absolutely mind boggling.

Complete extinction would be great , and as soon as possible.

Uh, the earth is overpopulated. Probably something will cause a big die-off and the environment will recover eventually. I don't think that extinction is in the cards just yet. There would have to be some catastrophic event to cause an extinction. Anything could happen though and I see a microbial cause as being the most likely. When organisms are weakened by environmental conditions they are very susceptible to disease.

We are only a virus on this earth - once we ,or some other event, extinguish ourselves another life form will emerge and life will continue.

What is there to worry about?

Humans are unlike other species and more than likely came from another world, i don't go for we evolved from a single cell that came out of the ocean.

We have a brain and with it we have been able to advance for want of a better word, you wont see your pet dog building a space ship in your back yard or your cat sending probes out into space.

It will be a virus or cancer...

Unlike the other species...humans can adapt to climate changes/food sources. However...only the ones with gun permits will be able to hunt food and provide protection for their families (from roaming bands of zombies/freed prisoners/scavengers)...the rest will starve off. This means, rock and roll music, Macdonalds, Good Movies, and 7 Eleven...are here to stay.

I like your thought processes.

Maybe we could maker a movie based on what you said?

Oh it has been done a few times already.smile.pngsmile.png

Seriously though most of us are too busy to really worry about the possible scenarios.

We live our lives to the fullest and what will happen will happen.

I am more concerned about the current political climate here and the impending departure of a well known person. And the ramifications of both for the non native population than what other things may happen that are really out of my control.

At least if things go pearshaped here hopefully we all have a plan B?thumbsup.gifthumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif

General Consensus: "After me, the deluge".

But still, everybody claims to love their kids, only wanting the best for them !

Cheers.

Rest assured, the way we all are, as a species, complete extinction is now, a guaranteed done dealcoffee1.gif

There are just to many of us ,just look what is happening now ,the have nots are moving to where the haves live ,in the years to come the flow will get bigger and bigger and the haves will use force to keep the poor out, the future does not look bright

We need a virus to make all life on earth sterile , this would be the humaine way to extiction.

Sadly I'm too lazy & stupid to engineer such a virus.

I fully concur with your point of view, but 10,000 years of human behavioral history has already demonstrated our species notion of "humane ways to extinction". Be patient, as there is already a new, and completely different agenda, planted in the works. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the reality television showcoffee1.gif

the average lifespan of a species is about 100,000 years.

Obviously he doesn't know how long the dinosaurs roamed the earth, millions upon millions of years.
