PM Gen Prayut tasks "3 rivers" with reconciliation framework

Dhra Dhirakaosal

BANGKOK, 20 December 2015 (NNT) –Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has advised related officials in regard to important legislations and tasked the so-called "3 rivers" with laying the framework for reconciliation.

National Legislative Assembly (NLA) President Pornpetch Wichidcholchai said Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha called a meeting of the "5 Rivers", the informal name for the five different groups trying to reform Thailand's political structure. These five main authorities headed by the National Council for Peace and Order include: the Constitution Drafting Committee, the Cabinet, the National Reform Steering Assembly and the National Legislative Assembly.

They met on December 18th to discuss the announcement of the works of the government. The prime minister had wanted all sides to gear up for the event as well as follow up on all works related to reforming the country. The NLA will meet with the National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) to consider important legislation related to reforms.

The government is currently studying the details of legislation regarding the crackdown on corruption. The government might propose it as a new law or use an edited older version to reiterate the government’s firm stance against corruption.

In addition, the prime minister has ordered members of the 3 Rivers to lay the framework for reconciliation.

Junta-head couldn't reconcile his bank statement workout a Section 44, so what chance has he got with a stuffed roadmap, and a country full of very, very unhappy people.

If I understand this convoluted crap correctly, then the government is studying existing laws which they might, or might not, make into new laws, or alter them in such a way to show how strongly committed the government is dealing with corruption.

Good luck with that, take your time, make lot's of noise, don't forget the loopholes, indemnify yourselves and Happy New Year!

One and a half years after the coup and they are JUST NOW being told to create a framework for reconciliation? Yeah, I think the wood for that framework is still sitting in live trees in a forest somewhere.

Besides, I don't think they are yet done stamping out the red shirts. Once that is done there will be no need for reconciliation and so JOB DONE!

How time flies when nothing gets done:

"Thailand has called on the European Union (EU) and its member states to recognize the ongoing efforts from all sectors of Thai society to bring about national reconciliation, which will foster an environment conducive to sustainable democracy, as laid out in the three-phase roadmap." Special Report: Thailand assures EU of progress in creating national reconciliation, 2014-06-27.

Eighteen months later under the leadership of an absolute rule and still tasking a reconcliation framework.

No Constitution.

No elections.

No democracy.

Right on schedule?

You just don't understand do you:

There's no need for a constitution- the man in charge has section 44.

We don't need elections because our favoured party cannot win them. If we hold an election "the most evil man to come out of Asia" ( if I may quote a true believer on this forum ) may well win.

We don't need democracy as the " good people" are in charge.

Now please do try to keep up!
