Government's achievements presentation to be cut short to one day

BANGKOK: -- The government has decided to cut short the time to announce its achievements for the past year from three days starting Wednesday to only one day for fear that the prolonged announcements will bore the audience, the government spokesman, Maj-Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said Monday.

The format of the presentation of the government’s achievements has also been changed. Instead of allowing each minister to present the achievements of his/her ministry, each of the six deputy prime ministers will present the achievements to be grouped into six clusters.

Maj-Gen Sansern said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha will first giver an overall picture of the government’s achievements grouped into six clusters after which each deputy prime minister will talk about each cluster.

After the deputy prime ministers have finished with their presentation, the media will be allowed to ask questions after which they will have lunch together.

After the one-day session, each minister will be given a chance to present his/her achievements through the Thailand Moves Forward programme in alphabetical order from December 23 until January with the defence minister taking the lead.

Bore, more like a cure for insomnia.

So they have to face the ugly truth that there's not enough BS to spin out for two days, scraping the bottom of the barrel to make it last one.

Thais would find it boring?

How could the announcements of government measures to bring happiness to the people be boring if the people are happier than a year ago?

Perhaps the government is saying several things here such as:

1. it would take at least 3 days for us to tell you what we have discovered, what we have done so far

AND by the way...

2. we have barely scratched the surface of the mountain of serious historical issues which are hobbling the nation

Condensed versions don't always make people feel happier!

the media will be allowed to ask questions

Does that include all the thai media? How about foreign media? Will all and any questions be allowed? will the Q and A be broadcast live?

No I didn't think so. Carefully selected tam journalists asking pre-approved questions is more likely

Instead of being subjected to 3 days of scrutiny and questioning, the government has wisely limited the presentation materials and the length of what they may call "unnecessary" and "uncalled for" questioning.

the gag is wearing rather thin in light of people having to do without sufficient water resources, hopes of economic prosperity, lack of the right to assemble, white elephant projects, contested corruption and the bevy of unfulfilled promises from 2015

The gloves may just come off in 2016.

I hope not.

This assumes they have any audience that wants to listen. And fortunately, TVs and radios have off switches. As my wife says, just more blah...blah...blah.

This whole "achievements" charade is right on par with when my daughter was about 7 or 8 and she'd say "LOOK! LOOK! Daddy what I did!"

So they've now concluded there aren't enough achievements to fill the slots they had. I don't imagine there will be enough to fill a day's worth - though they can make it up with hot air, no doubt.

Regarding your point 2. Why on earth don't they get on with it then? They haven't done anything so far except exact a bit of revenge on the PTP and it's supporters.
