Fence fillers
May I suggest a mix of local wild flowers and hardy bushes like Bougainvillea. It is drought resistant and a pollinator plant which will help the intended garden. Pollinating insects are an important part of a productive garden and help sustain the local environment. -

Economy Thailand Seeks Competitive US Tariff Rate Amid August Deadline
Are you talking about the decision back in May that was stayed by an appeals court? The tariffs are alive and well, for the time being. -

Thailand Cambodia armed conflict -- where do western expats fit in this mess?
Is there really much exposure to "foreign residents" in the conflict zone? Perhaps a handful of them. Obviously, unfortunate, and unwanted, but this conflict won't impact the foreign resident community as long as its stays on the border. It's not as if Cambodia will be bombing Pattaya. Maybe the southern insurgents will use this as an opportunity to be more active. -

Re-entry permit: what's the logic behind it?
You don't receive any further permission of stay, just permission of stay up until the expiry date of the extension. At a quick glance, the entry clearance Immigration officer can ascertain the period he should stamp you in for from the re-entry permit. Not without a re-entry permit.... If you are on (for example) a Non-Immigrant Type O (based on marriage) thats valid for another 10 months, and you want to nip out of the country... IF you do not get a re-entry permit, your 'permissions' end when you leave.... If you get a single re-entry permit, you have permission to re-enter under the same permit and stay for that 10 months. If you get a multiple re-entry permit, you can come and go for the full 10 months. ... And, even without a re-entry permit, at a quick glance, the entry clearance Immigration officer can ascertain the period he should stamp you in for from the original extension of stay anyway. The re-entry permit itself is rather moot and pointless... -

Relative status of BMW and Porsche
How long did it take to have the issue repaired, from pickup to return delivery? Did the dealership give you a replacement automobile? I expect it was over a week. I only have one motor vehicle available at any given time, and although I am a low mileage user, need the vehicle. Thailand isn't the best for public transit and Hua Hin ride hailing doesn't work too well outside the core and after 10 pm. I don't think there is much coverage upcountry either. What will you do when the vehicle is out of warranty and you have to get the vehicle 800 km /11 hours+ to Bangkok? Are you really going to be happy with the cost of the transport, and the hassle of getting service? -

Fence fillers
More information would be needed for help with plant selection. Location? I'm not sure what examples you will find much driving around "everywhere and nowhere" . Irrigation? A lot will depend on whether the screening you envision will have water or not. Without irrigation, consider solid fencing or shadecloth on the fence structure. Fence structure and height? If irrigated, do your privacy plantings need to grow above the fence height, or would a vine growing on the fence structure be adequate? Rangoon creeper is a beauty. Coral vine is more massive and requires a large solid fencing structure for support. Bouganvillea is a flowering favorite; it's thorny and impenetrable for security purposes, but needs space to ramble, or otherwise needs frequent pruning maintenace. For taller plantings, bananas and bamboo are relatively easy to maintain and are fast growing. Dwarf 'gluai-nam-wa' bananas are a favorite of mine for fast growing, fast fruiting, beautiful green privacy screening within a year. Palm groupings are another possibility. Most shrub hedgerow plantings are highly unnatural and high maintenance, and are one of the most frequent calls that I get for long term problems. https://www.thaigardendesign.com/plant-lists/
