VIENNA: -- A number of European capitals have been warned of a possible plot to carry out a shooting or bomb attack in the days between Christmas and New Year, Vienna police say.

“In the days before Christmas, a friendly intelligence service issued a warning to many European capitals, according to which, where gatherings of people take place, in the period between Christmas and New Year, there could be an attack with explosives or a shooting,” Vienna police said in a statement.

The statement said several possible names of attackers were mentioned in the alert, but a review of that information has so far produced no concrete results. Overall, however, there is a specific indication that the threat in this case is more serious than the ongoing threat situation, police said.

Yes sadly your right. 9/11 seemed the turning point from which freedom and liberty started to be drained from us. A lot of countries are now swinging to the right in the misguided thinking that the right will protect them from terrorism when in fact you need protection from the right itself. They are opportunists who have seized on the terrorist bone. The same message is being cranked up in the GOP presidential bid. Read the transcripts of the debates and count how many times the word security is used. A good read is what rightism has done for Poland since the last election. A whole new political disorder in a country that was looking for security. Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing.

Another form of warfare….mental warfare…..never mind if you have no attacks planned, just say you are going to…..and make states waste millions of taxpayer money as they ramp up security.
