There are tons of paid survey sites on the internet, paying you for completing online surveys. Some sites pay you through paypal/cheque and others offer vouchers. Do you use any of these sites and what was your experience.

The payout threshold for the sites vary. Some sites pay out even amounts as low as 1 USD while other sites you have to earn 50 British Pounds (GBP). To reach 50 GBP you have to complete about 100 surveys, as they pay 50 pence per survey. But I Have found that particular site to be the most reliable when it comes to crediting you the points for completing surveys. However, surveys with that site can sometimes take long.

Have heard that completing online surveys is a great way to boost your income.

A lot if time answering many questions for little reward I think. Just my opinion. Sometimes a survey can take 30 minutes or more....50 pence....hardly worth it.

The only people proclaiming that completing online surveys is a great way to boost your income are those who are selling ebooks and online courses on the subject at vastly inflated prices. All the information such ebooks and courses contain is freely available on the Internet.

I dabbled in this a few years back, and soon came to realize that answering online surveys is a great way to occupy your time in return for very little or no money. The reliability and credibility of paid for online surveys took a serious dent and to regain some of their former credibility survey companies switched from paying money to awarding points that could be redeemed for prizes, or entry into a prize draw.

The other point I soon learned was that the opportunities to participate in surveys was affected by where you live, your gender, your age, and the socio-economic group to which you belong. When I was dabbling in on-line surveys, over half of the opportunities were for females resident in the USA, although the age range did vary. In practice, Even though I was registered with over 30 online survey companies, I found that I did not meet the selection criteria for about 90% of the surveys I was invited to complete.

Did I make any money completing online surveys? No, because there were not enough surveys for me to complete in the qualifying period to pass the payment threshold. I did not redeem the points I had accrued because the prizes were of low quality or things I did not want; and, no I did not win any prize draws. Of course, other people may have fared better than I did, and you might be more fortunate than I was.

Definitely not "a great way to boost your income", except if you're the people running the survey sites. Chance to earn a little extra pocket money maybe.

I tried it a few years back, and use to complete them while online trading, so I was doing at the same time as something else online.

It took hours to earn anything decent. I redeemed about USD 50 a couple of times. It worked out about USD 1 to 2 per hour if I remember. Some of the surveys about upcoming movies and unseen trailers were quite interesting, but most surveys were dull and became very repetitive after a while.

So I gave up as a boring waste of my time, paying less than minimum wages per hour, and even doing at the same time as other stuff online just wasn't worth it.

The survey site I mentioned before is huge. They have offices all over, in US, UK, middle-east (also called near-east), and asia-pacific. The polls/surveys they run are quoted in the media a lot.
Yep, its only peanuts for completing a survey. But I feel that I am taking part in shape public opinion. So the money is not the only reason for doing their surveys.
The polls of course get it wrong some most of the time, whistling.gif but some of their other work on topics like consumer habits and banking is useful nevertheless.

Some of these survey sites (and the sites singing their praises) are coming up with ingenious ways to get you to sign-up. I got referred to a well-known paid survey site. The referring site had all these pros-cons of many surveys sites with a ranking 1-10. This particular survey site had a high ranking. Of course, the ranking was based on the opinion of the persons running that referring site.

The survey site had a low payout threshold. Below 5 USD. So, I sign-up and complete two surveys. Wasn't credited any points for those. Did two more, but before I completed them, a nasty message comes-up. See below.

Not very specific right??...So I email the support team, asking how come. I receive a robotic reply. THey say their survey's can only be completed if you are located in the country for which the survey was intended for (not quite true, because I completed two surveys). Either way, they should have said this right at the beginning. Or with an error message, not lead us on. Or how about telling us when we sign-up. I told them this. No surprise, they haven't replied to my e-mail.

Beware, with some survey sites, users have got to 39.95 USD (when the payout threshold is 40.00 USD) and the survey site then stopped sending invitations.

Before I will do any kind of surveys for $1 I will start flipping burgers.

Rather become a sandwich artist than flip burgers. But, I know what you mean though.
