PATTAYA -- Police were called to a house rented by a Kazakhstan couple at the View Talay Villas on Jomtien Second Road on Wednesday afternoon to investigate a burglary.

The house is currently being rented by Mr. Yevgeniy Gaponchuk aged 39 from Kazakhstan. He occupied the house on 3rd November and is due to leave on 15th January.

The house is owned by a Russian, Mr. Alexey Makarov aged 45 who soon arrived with his boyfriend Khun Nattapon aged 28.

The tenant and his family had left the house earlier in the day and went to a local Massage Parlor and when they returned they discovered someone had broken-into the house through a bedroom window and had removed 6,100 US Dollars and 190,000 Baht in cash from their room safe.

One of the pictures in the report shows it: its one of the fun stuff "safes" (in the 999 Baht price range), child's play to open.

A complete joke.

Better hide your valueables somewhere.

Dear Dr. Watson,

I think that someone who owns a house with a safe in it and then rents it out, and maybe does not change the combination might have told his boyfriend what that number was, or has a spare key to that safe.

When the tenents are not in he goes round to check the contents of the safe and phones his pals.

His pals come round and "break in" again, as they have done 4 times before, and make off with the loot.

They don't seem to bother taking the TV, microwave, anything else of value etc. The cash is enough.

None of the security guards notice anything....strangely these could be the same security guards who noticed an abduction of a Aussie biker. (same location ???!!!) They see nothing coz they get a cut of the dosh.

best regards,

Sherlock Holmes

Really forget that "safe".

Inside job: if someone knew that 6100 USD plus 190'000 Baht is in such a toy box then: yes!

About 400'000 Baht, enough to build a basic house in upcountry.

Almost four years of income for a helper.

Stupid to have that much cash in a rented place with such a crap box.

An all time favorite, often linked in the forum:

Quite an impressive stash of keys in that safe.

No it is very convenient for thieves - shows them exactly where items of interest are. No time wasting searching needed.

I doubt that it's very hard for people in the area to know when old tenants leave and new ones arrive, even if they have no direct connection with the property.

It also seems likely for new tenants to arrive with a maximum amount of cash to finance their stay, and so that would probably be the best time to rob them.

Ahahahahahaha.

So a guy from Kazakstan takes 6K USD and 200k bht with him. Yeah sure. I guess he has bankpaper.receipt etc

I guess there has been 1 burglary in that area. And it happens to just be his house

Isnt it funny how we never hear about 30000 bht missing.
