It should work well if you have the right internet speeds....but i would just buy the box online and load it myself...its dead easy and if ur retired u have all the time in the world to learn.

The guys selling you the box pay 3k for it and charge you 2k for apps and addons that are free to everyone.

Yeah I have a minix Neo X8H+ (retail in pantip is Bt4890.00).

I paid Bt.6000 for it and that was delivered and installed at my home with all apps and stuff already loaded. I thought it was good value.

So do you know which box he's talking about, as I didn't see it mentioned.

Before laying out any money go to the Audio/Visual forum, also under "Internet, Computers ect." There are several recent threads there on this topic, often called "Android Boxes' and the services "KODI" or "XBMC"

If you read through them you will find it is a complex topic with some users very successful and happy with their set-ups and an equal number frustrated and defeated.

It seems a lot depends on your quality of internet connection and your patience and ability to understand a lot of technical detail.

I did try one of these boxes using KODI but my dirty, 10mb ADSL connection wasn't up to it's demands, nor was my frustration tolerance.

There are a lot of decent Android boxes available online for well under B3000 but if you aren't particularly tech savvy, then having somebody who is competent to set it all up and install it is worth a couple of thousand extra.

Doesn't really matter that much….as you can install the apps on any android box with decent hardware specs….I would look for a quad core processor, at least 2GB of internal RAM …

Many thanks for all the help . I struggle with modern tech so maybe not for me . BTW I have fiber optic 20 down & 7 up and currently using ilikehdtv and buy a 450 baht a month package but it has been having problems recently with total loss of connection ,i.e. cannot get any access, they respond very well to emails and said it was an issue with the Data Center to be resolved soon . However I am still getting cut offs and freezing no matter what app i connect to. Pity really as they provide a great range of all the UK programmes that I like to view.

Why you pay for stolen sources? Better get them where they are provided for free.

You don't need any separate hardware to run Kodi. Just install it on your computer, connect your computer to your TV via HDMI and you're good to go.

How do you change channels ?

For your computer or a android box Via a keyboard or with a remote. you could also diwnload a remote control app one your phone.

If you buy an android box then it will come with a remote

If you use a wireless 2.4hgz keyboard and mouse, they will work about 10 meters away, and even go through walls.

The phone app connects over the WIFI to your Kodi.

You can just try the Free Live UK TV about 600 channels + from many other places https://www.filmon.com/group/uk-live-tv

with the pay ones there is something like 45,000 channels..

OK I have Kodi on my PC + Laptop + a Android box, it just takes time and trial and error, after the learning period just fairly easy to add what you want..

with using Kodi you can add more... maybe one thing your watching is not good, or buffeting a lot you can change and watch the same on a different add-ons..

I still after so long find the easiest is on the PC then add it to a USB stick and and then plug into the laptop or Android box and upload.

Because they are on the same network. When your phone is connected to your home wifi, you let the remote app search, and it will find any active Kodi's on the network.

Although Kore is the official Kodi remote, Yatse is much more complete and easier to use.

Ok cool.

Is there a way to connect PC to tv other than HDMI. I don't really want to buy a 50m long cable and run it through the house to the bedroom.

Buy a amazon fore stick with kodi pre installed or install it yourself. Its the size of a thumb drive and plugs into the hdmi port of your tv…..runs kodi etc pretty well.
