Extending the "Visa on arrival" in Krabi

Featured Replies

Hi

As Estonian citizen I entered Thailand with Visaclass N.30 (got it from the Krabi airport without charge) and it is valid until 8th of January. Can I extend my stay in Thailand for 30 days in Krabi immigration office? Some people tell that I can extend it and others tell that I can’t. If yes, what is the cost and how long the procedure takes (1 hour or 1 day, or more)?

Thank you in advance for your help!

  • Yes you can.

It will cost 1,900 baht.

Less than a day. It's issued on the spot. It'll depend on queue time.

The reason you get different answers is because you incorrectly call what you have a "visa on arrival". A visa on arrival is only available to people from a few countries, it only gives you a stay of 15 days, you have to pay a fee to get it and it cannot be extended.

What you got was a visa exempt entry, which as stated by elviajero can be extended by 30 days at an Immigration office for a fee of 1,900 Baht.

Thank you elviajero and Sophon very much for answers and explanations!

All the controversy start at:

http://www.krabi-info.com/do/useful_info.html#TouristCenter

There they call Entry without visa = Visa on arrival, that can be extended fro only 7 days. In this page there are many other mistakes as well.
