Father is retired with retirement visa. Unfortunately, his son (45) is too young to get the retirement visa. However the son must take care of the father. Father cannot take care of himself in Thailand.

Is it possible to get a dependant visa for the son?

If so what are the requirements?

Good question - I haven't seen that one come up before.

Would have thought a letter from a Thai doctor would go a long way to getting a sympathetic consideration from Immigration - all be I can see you proberbly having to get past the junior ranks who normally interface with applicants - unless one takes the iniative himself to get the circumstances taking into consideration by a superior. Usualy its a cut and dry case of you have the funds and meet the qulifications or not.

National Police Office Order No. 606/2006

7.19 7.19 In case of being the member of family of the foreigner who is permitted to stay temporarily in the Kingdom pursuant to the Criterion No. 7.1, 7.2, 7.4, 7.5, 7.6, 7.9, 7.11, 7.12, 7.13, 7.14, 7.15, 7.16, 7.20, 7.21, 7.25 or 7.28 of this Order (Only for Father, mother, marriage couple, ordinary child, adopted child or a child of the marriage couple)

(4) In case of the ordinary child, adopted child, child of the marriage couple, these person need to be single/never married and has never lived as a part of the family before, and shall not be older than 20 years old,

As you can see no dependent is allowed that is over 20 years old.
