PHUKET: -- The Phuket Waterworks Authority yesterday (Jan 6) announced that the water supply in some parts of Kathu will be switched off next Wednesday (Jan 13) from 9:30am until the evening whilst works are carried out on Bangthong Bridge.

North-bound train service back to normal

Royal Thai Army Medical Department celebrates 116 yrs

BANGKOK, 7 January 2016 (NNT) - Commander of the Royal Thai Army Gen Teerachai Nakwanich presided over a ceremony to commemorate 116 years of the Royal Thai Army Medical Department, before his inspection of the ASEAN Center of Military Medicine.


The Royal Thai Army Medical Department was established in the year 1900 and remains an important part of the Thai military. Its mission this year is to develop the department to serve the army's needs in the region.

Meanwhile, ASEAN Center of Military Medicine will have its official opening on January 29th, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan.

The Center is the first of its kind and will coordinate efforts among medical professionals in the ASEAN region. Its role is especially important during disaster situations that require cooperation from neighboring countries. The center also serves to augment the Thai military's role on the international stage.
