Hi I would like to ask how many times can I re-enter Thailand with 1 month tourist visa? I read some forums about border running but there wasnt written how many times it is applicable. Also can I change tourist visa to non-imigrant visa B? I am from Slovakia.

Thanks smile.png

There is no one month tourist visa. You get a 30 day visa exempt entry.

There is no written limit on visa exempt entries.

At border crossings you would only get a 15 day entry.

The immigration officer will get an alert when you reach a total of 6 and you will questioned about what you are doing here and they will look to see if you are trying to live here on them.

You can get a 30 day extension of a visa exempt entry at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

If is possible to change from a tourist visa obtained an embassy or consulate to a non-b visa but most people have to out of the country to get one.

I thought people from Slovakia got a visa on arrival, rather than a visa exempt entry.

List of countries and territories which are entitled to apply for visa on arrival:

1. Bhutan: Kingdom of Bhutan 2. China: People’s Republic of China 3. Cyprus: Republic of Cyprus 4 . Estonia: Republic of Estonia 5. Hungary: Republic of Hungary 6. India Republic of India 7. Kazakhstan: Republic of Kazakhstan 8. Latvia: Republic of Latvia 9. Liechtenstein: Principality of Liechtenstein 10. Lithuania: Republic of Lithuania 11. Maldives: Republic of Maldives 12. Mauritius: Republic of Mauritius 13. Poland: Republic of Poland 14. Russian Federation 15. Saudi Arabia: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 16. Slovakia: Slovak Republic 17. Slovenia Republic of Slovenia 18. yes we have visa on arrival however I wish to find a job in Thailand and from what I heard I need to work at least 3 months in company before they will help with non-immigrant visa B. I am looking for a way how could I stay in Thailand for 6 month (maybe less deppending on job hunting and probation period). So option with crossing border each month was the best way I could find for now. I would be grateful if you know about some other option.

You cannot legally work for even one day without a work permit, and you cannot get a work permit on a tourist visa.

Your visa options without a job offer and supporting documentation are

  • Multiple Entry Tourist Visa issued only in your home country. This may be difficult to qualify for. Contact the consulate in your home country to check what they will require.
  • Single Entry Tourist Visa valid for a single 60-day entry that can be extended for 30 days at immigration inside the country. I think you can get this from a neighboring country as well as in your home country. They may be stricter in their requirements than for a citizen of some other "first world" countries.
  • Visa on arrival which cannot be extended.

That is out dated info. See this list dated December of 2015.: http://www.consular.go.th/main/th/customize/62281-Summary-of-Countries-and-Territories-entitled-for.html

You have a 30 day visa exempt entry.not a visa on arrival. You can get a 30 day extension of it at an immigration offices. A visa on arrival is only for 15 days after you pay 1000 baht for it.

Your best option is to go to a nearby embassy or consulate and apply for a single entry tourist visa.

The extension is not a visa it is an extension of the 30 permit to stay you got on entry you can apply for at an immigration office here.. No need for tickets out of the country to apply for it.

If you wanted to get new 30 visa exempt entry you would have to fly out and back to a nearby by country to get it. Or you could get 15 days at a border crossing.

You could apply for a conversion at some immigration to a non immigrant visa (class B ) based upon working if you have the correct paperwork form you employer and a work permit application approval letter.

I have one more question :) how can I apply for conversion of 30 day extention visa to non-immigrant? Do I need to cross borders and apply at Thai consulat in neighbohring country? Or do I need to travel back to my home country? Thank you very much for your help :)

A "conversion" is applied for in Bangkok.

You would need paperwork from a prospective employer + an approved Work Permit application letter.
