BANGKOK — City Hall signed a 1.6 billion-baht contract yesterday for the construction of 45-kilometer berms along Khlong Lat Phrao.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration on Thursday agreed to hire River Engineering Co., Ltd., to be construct concrete berms along the khlong, which will affect about 7,000 families living along the canals.

The berms, which will allow for roads to run alongside the khlongs, are part of a larger project to improve transportation and water flow along many of the capital city’s waterways. Ultimately 1.65 billion baht will be spent to do the same along 128 kilometers of Bangkok canals.

people living along the Khlong, say , it never will happen;

and i live closed there !!

They forgot to pencil in the 47,000 street vendors and 97,000 motorbikes in that picture, however, I am most offended by the fact that they did not pencil in the reality of pretty women everywhere.

Eye candy makes it all look wonderful.

Beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder though............

Great they will clean it all out so it can be filled full of crap again by those ever so clean Thais

"The berms, which will allow for roads to run alongside the khlongs................"

First mistake....roads along the khlongs. Boats maybe, vehicles....why?

if they clean up the canals and remove all the free loaders along them now that destroy the quality and make them look like sh*t with all the crap they just toss into them then it will be good. Trouble is once they are complete the free loaders will move back in and destroy it and make it impossible for anyone else to move around them freely as well as again using them as a rubbish/waste disposal area

Within 3 months it will be all green and overgrown with waterhyacinths.
