I can remember exactly where I was when I heard my first Eagle song. I had just arrived in California in the early 1970's. I had met some guys in a garage band who wanted me to join. It was an actual large garage in the middle of a field in sunny northern California, 30 miles from the nearest town. We all still sported our hippie long hair and semi-bloodshot 1,000-mile-stare eyes then. It was Witchy Woman and I was an instant fan.

One of my favourite Glenn Frey tracks is "Smuggler's Blues" from that episode of Miami Vice that he acted in. Several years later I was standing on a jungle airstrip in Belize waiting for our single-engine plane to land and take us on to our next destination, and all I could think of was "Smuggler's Blues" . R.I.P. Glenn Frey, and thanks for the memories. I'm playing The Allnighter as I write this.

The Eagles were great too of course. Their Hell Freezes Over tour was memorable.
