Deputy PM seeks clarification of ThaiHealth board reinstatement

BANGKOK, 19 January 2016 (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam will ask the Council of State to clarify the prime minister’s order to reinstate the board of ThaiHealth.

The deputy PM said he had not received an order from Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha about the reinstatement of the ThaiHealth board. He said the PM might have instructed the Council of State to oversee the matter.

The government would have to invoke power under Section 44 of the interim charter to allow all seven board members to go back to work, Mr.Wissanu said.

All seven board members can be reinstated with the ThaiHealth’s selection process. The deputy premier also called on the organization to tackle its scandal of conflict of interest.

it does seem that way, I'm not sure if he is pissed off being over ruled or just that he wasn't kept in the loop

I suspect both. Wissanu was probably not pre-advised and probably considers the procedure incorrect. Incorrect that is unless implemented under Article 44, which had not been explicitly invoked. Wissanu's primary job is to see that laws are complied with.

Being not too familiar with proper bureaucratic etiquette: why not just ask the PM directly?

Dep PM to PM: "whassup cous..., yo, about them brothers on the health board..."
