After the outcome of the air safety inspection, followed by an unexpected Airbus deal, I wonder if there is an offer in the air for the purchase of a couple of German submarines...

In 10 years this is the first time I have ever read the notion of a government official asking for advice. From foreigners. From foreign government officials. Quite revolutionary, if he actually asks...clap2.gif

BANGKOK: -- Representatives from the European Union will meet Thai deputy prime minister tomorrow to follow up Thailand's progress in its solution of the illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.

Meanwhile Thailand yesterday launched a mobile application that it said will help authorities to tackle the IUU fishing more efficiently.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan said the EU representatives will meet him tomorrow to follow up the progress in Thailand’s suppression of IUU fishing.

He said he will present the government’s solutions to the illegal fishing issue currently implemented and ask for any advice from the EU executives, the NNT reported.

So far, he said, the government has taken various measures to help fishermen affected by IUU crackdowns while it has adhered to the principles of international laws governing the issue.

He hoped what Thailand has done will help the country’s sea export to escape EU’s penalty.

Yesterday, Anti-IUU Fishing mobile application was introduced for free download both on IOS and Android systems.

According to NNT, Director-General of the Customs Department Kulit Sombatsiri said the app is aimed at facilitating the inspection and investigation of illegal fishing cases by concerned officials while disseminating important information on the issue to users.

He said the app will be the government’s new instrument in raising fishing standard and cracking down IUU fishing.

The app features two parts with the first providing information on various operations of relevant agencies to eradicate illegal fishing.

The second part covers a wide range of data, lists of illegal vessels, incoming vessels, marine products and licenced operators. This part is accessed only by authorised users.

The app is the joint effort of Customs Department, Department of Fisheries and the Command Center for Combating Illegal Fishing (CCCIF).

Probably.

And if the EU says something the govt. doesn't like I wonder if a defamation case will be opened. :-)

I wonder if the govt. will ask something like "WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT"?
