Sabai Dee?

I've used AVG tune up from time to time to keep my machines fast. Tasks from registry cleaning to defragmenting.

It took quite a while to do all the tasks and now I found a program that seems to be way better. I tried it on my PC and my notebook and both machines are really faster.

Much easier to handle and not as complicated as AVG tune up 2016.

What are the old farts' specialists' opinions? UM, sorry, I meant the experts/ expats.

Thanks a lot in advance. wai2.gif

IObit ASC uses placebo effects and make you feel good through its UI, where you are given the experience of your pc speeding up (in illustrations and animation effects alone) which is more than enough for many. Whatever feeling of cleaning and speed increase you get from this app is purely imaginary. It does have some minor useful tools to add some semblance of credibility, but mostly its just a well-designed platform to give you the illusion of control over your pc's performance.

Quite frankly I cannot imagine going back to the old ways of PC maintenance without it - Its a god-send. I acknowledge the "placebo effect" mentioned by flyDelight, but that doesn't detract from its effectiveness in keeping my machine running well. I do need to say that I use it in conjunction with Iobit's other offerings - Smart Defrag, Iobit Uninstaller (including their wonderful "powerful" registry cleaner after uninstalling) and Driver Booster.

The only problem I have ever had with ASC was on one machine using Windows 8.1, which acted up after doing a registry clean. Even after experience this I trust ASC implicitly.

I'm told we aren't supposed to defrag the Samsung 850 SSD (or any SSD?). That hurts because I'd love to.

you can select/de-select all the different modules before you start. The main advantage about the Pro version to the freeware one is for auto scans at your choice of time/date..

As others have said, been using it for years. One of the first programs installed after an OS re-format.

I found it was very bloated and took a long time, more than 6 hours to run its checks on my HP Desktop and it slowed my work down a lot.

I contacted their support line several times and in the end I junked it. One guy said they have a customer and it took over 20 hours to service his PC.

I tried a couple of other AV programs and now I am back on Avira. That takes 3 or 4 hours but it doesn't slow my PC down nor does it come up with pop up windows telling me stuff I don't need to know or offering me discounts on this, that or the other. Buy now and save 70% on this program which is essential for the well being and faster speed of up and downloading etc.

If you can afford to knock 70% off the price it must have been overpriced to start with.

Been using ASC (latest version 9) for years.

I have M$ Security Essentials as real time protection and run ASC. Glarry Utilities, Super Antispyware, Malwarebytes and Spybot about once a week before my weekly backup.

Just out of interest does anyone use Spyware Blaster? https://www.brightfort.com/spywareblaster.html

Been using it for years but it never seems to find anything so just wonder if it's worth bothering with ?

I would agree that increases in speed is mostly an illusion.

However, it is a great tool for heavy cleaning; i have seen it detect and remove 18GB from one computer in temp and junk files! Of course what it does can be done with windows provided tools, but it comes back to the pretty UI and animations..................wink.png
