American Airlines Miami - Milan emergency landing: Passengers injured

American Airlines flight 206 tonight managed to make an emergency landing in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador in North Eastern Canada when on a flight from Miami to Milan. The flight was diverted to St John's, N.L., after hitting heavy turbulences.


A St John's Airport spokesperson says many passengers suffered injuries due to turbulence. 192 passengers & 11 crew on board. Medics are on the scene and ambulances are lined up in front of the airport terminal.

At least two passengers were taken to a local hospital.

A reminder to the rest of us to keep our seat belts fastened at all times when seated and not just when the seat belt sign is illuminated.

Always amazes me how many passengers think they are immune, even when the seatbelt sign IS on....

The problem is not so much that they smash themselves against the ceiling. They could drop back on top of someone who was being careful and following the rules..
