If she inputs the wrong information you provided her, she is responsible if anything happens or if someone finds out....

Why must she be smiling if it is your mistake and you didn't correct it. She did.

I never said she should be smiling, she had to change to ADD 1 digit at the end ie number 12345 to 12345-6
she HAD to do nothing. you HAD to do it right AND keep your glasses within reach.

She DIDNT have to give me an evil look I DIDNT give her an evil look
you deserved it

You got through, no major hassle. Shrug it off and relax.

They're immigration officials - there to check passports, arrival cards, visas, etc. Very mundane stuff. They're not employed to "greet" tourists.

If you think the Thai immigration officials have surly faces, go check out their counter parts at the airport in Munich, Germany.

They have faces like a dog's @r$e.

They sure are employed to welcome visitors to come to Thailand, they are the first officials one meets when entering the Land of Smiles.....

I don't know about Germany but in my homecountry they have to say "goodday sir" and they all do it. That's what i call a developed country, it starts at the front door.

Immigration officials are NOT employed to "greet" people. They're employed to check passports, passport validity, visas, etc.

Yes, they are generally the first "officials" we come in contact with, but that doesn't mean they're there to greet us, smile at us or roll out the red carpet for us.

I've passed through too many immigration check points in Asia, Europe and the USA to mention, but generally the majority of immigration officials I've dealt with were 100% correct, civil and professional. They were not happy campers, generally they didn't smile nor did they greet me with a hug and a kiss - just normal professionals doing their job.

I'll never understand some Westeners who expect people to bend over for them just because they're tourists visiting a developing country.

Rules are rules - it's that simple. Fill in the arrival/departure form, have your passport, visa, etc. ready.

If I had 1 Baht for everytime I stood behind a tourist at Swampy who hadn't filled in, signed, etc. his arrival card or couldn't find her departure card, etc. not to mention the time I've had to wait for them to find their glasses, I'd be a millionaire by now!

The OP got through, I really don't understand what he's complaining about.

i like complaining, so stop complaining i really dont understand why its taken seriously

Nothing like having the ego wounded. She was not at all impressed by that first class ticket...

I have seen the same look and embarrassment when a farang tries the "Wat you name" to a Thai woman who responds in accented English (from having grown up overseas), "Cheryl".

Im not dwelling its just ive been sick for 4 days now and have nothing better to do all day between coughing my guts up and trying to stand upright without falling over, sadly my 6 day trip to HK was spent with 4 days in bed 1 day in temperatures of 1-2c coldest for 60 years so I was told and 1 day sightseeing.

Sure she will see millions but they are the frontline to visitors. Nope it aint important at all to me but currently nothing much else to do.

Maybe if you hadn't spent all your money on a first class ticket you could have afforded a room in Hong Kong that came with heat.

I was thinking, if he hadn't skimped on the lo-so first class ticket but rather had lashed out on a private hire, he could of been whisked thru the fast track service on a chariot towed by 76 Scandinavian virgins and somebody in his private entourage could have filled out the form for him, averting this entire ugly incident.

I guess some people have to do things the "tough" way, may as well be kannot.

Emirates normally do a Chauffeur Limo but they DO NOT do the Bangkok /Hong Kong route, if id flown in from the Uk I would have got one

Went through immigration in Hanoi today. Actually got a smile out of the beautiful Vietnamese immigration lady. And I only had an economy ticket on Thai Airway.

IO also don't have to smell good or caumb there hair but they still do it. Arriving in the Land od Smiles i would at least expect them to smile and even say hello or welcome to thailand. Also i expect them to speak english which they don't.

My homecountry has DIY immigration machines for EU-passports ONLY which tells a huge sign above them.

I had to wait a long time for some Indians trying to use those machines...When i asked him where he was from he said India....Then i asked him if India was in the EU while pointing at the huge sign above him....YES he said cheesy.gifcheesy.gif I told him India was NOT in the EU....

Then the whole qeueu laughed loudly and there they went to the long qeueu for NON-EU passports.

The machine doesn't say goodday though.facepalm.gif

Yes. I know how to fill out a form. Even after 24 hours of travel. Today was the first time I got a smile from immigration though.

I often get a laugh out of them.

My passport photo is apparently very amusing.

This is probably the best advice - never ever get in a queue behind Indians at immigration - always always cause problems.

Not racist , but just an observation from a world traveller.

Which airline is offering that now?

Fill out the paper work correctly and you won't have a problem. Fast track still means you need to do the paperwork. That is why they give it to you on the plane. Fast track doesn't mean they will do it all for you.

I have never had an issue coming into Thailand however I have always made sure I filled out the paperwork. Don't be so quick to judge a country based on your experience at the airport, especially when you are at fault.

whistling.gif I am almost 70 years old and have a problem with my right leg to an old accident 8 years ago.

I travel in a wheel chair for that reason. I can however, walk.

Quite often, because of the wheelchair I am wheeled through the priority or fact-track queue immigration gates.

I hope that doesn't disturb you .....it's just the airline policy.

They're setting up 'Thai only' towns now?

Maybe they really do hate us.

I'm sure you understand, as does everyone else, that I mean it is a town with only Thais ( and myself ) in it, if only because there is nothing any farang would want to see there, not because they hate us ( they certainly don't hate me )

If there are any other farangs there that I've never seen, apologies.

LOL. I've never "counted" for anything, being neither rich nor famous.
